The Supreme Court of India has issued a latest recruitment notification to fill up 30 vacancies. The vacancies are for the post of Court Assistant (Jr. Translator) in different languages. The apex court has published the notification at the website sci.gov.in inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the recruitment starting from February 15, 2021. The last date of receipt of online applications through the official website is March 13, 2021. The apex court is going to conduct written tests followed by typing tests for selection of the candidates.
In the official notification, the Supreme Court has indicated that the selection is to be done to form a panel of qualified candidates. This panel is to be used for filling up vacancies for the ex-cadre post of Court Assistant (Jr. Translator). Selected candidates are to be appointed in the Level 7 of the pay matrix for an initial basic salary of Rs 44900 per month.
SCI has indicates the detailed distribution of vacancies for the advertised post in the official notification. All vacancies are for the post of Junior Translator only. However, segregation of the posts has been done in terms of the language i.e. on the basis of the language that the Translator will translate. As such there are vacancies for translation of judgement in English into the languages of Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, Urdu, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Odiya, Punjabi and Nepali. Candidates must refer to the notification for the complete details of post-wise distribution of the available vacancies.
The Supreme Court has established certain minimum conditions of eligibility that must be fulfilled before applying for the recruitment of Junior Translator. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and not more than 27 years of age in order to apply. Relaxations on the upper age limit are however applicable for candidates belonging to special reserved categories as per government norms in vogue.
Applicants are required to have a Graduate degree with English as a subject and the the language for which, thy are applying. Thus, if a candidate is applying for the post of Jr. Translator (English to Hindi), then they must have passed graduation with English & Hindi as subjects. Applicants must also be holding a relevant Diploma Certificate for Translation of the language from English and vice versa in order to apply.
SCI is going to hold written test consisting of General Knowledge, General Knowledge and language translation based questions. The written exam carries 150 marks and candidates have to secure at least 60% in each section to qualify. Those who qualify are required to take a typing test followed by which, final selection is done through interview.
Candidates are advised to read the notification carefully before applying. General and OBC candidates are required to deposit an application fee of Rs 500 while SC/ST and other reserved category candidates must pay Rs 250. Only online applications are accepted.
