National Testing Agency (NTA) is going to start the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2019 registrations from next week, on September 09, 2019. UGC NET is conducted at national level for determining the eligibility of Assistant professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in both Indian universities and colleges. The eligible candidates can register till October 09, 2019.
Candidates who are pursuing or have passed Masters with a minimum of 55 % marks (general) and 50 % marks (OBC non-creamy layer / SC / ST / PwD / transgender) are eligible to apply for the examination. The Ph.D holders whose masters have been completed by 19th September 1991 shall also be eligible with a relaxation of 5 % in aggregate marks (i.e from 55 % to 50%) for appearing in NET.
The next factor is the age limit. Applicants have to be below 30 years of age for JRF. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for OBC non-creamy layer / SC / ST / PwD / women / transgender. Whereas for the post of assistant professor, there is no such upper age limit.
To apply for UGC NET registrations, head to the official website, ntanet.nic.in on the scheduled date. On the homepage, click on the NTA UGC NET 2019 December registration. Then the candidates need to fill basic details and note down the system generated application number. After that, start filling the form by providing address, educational qualification, etc and upload scanned passport size photograph (10 kb to 200 kb) and signature (4 kb to 30 kb).
Along with the application form, the general category candidates have to pay an application fee which is anticipated to be around Rs 800 for general, Rs 400 for OBC NCL and Rs 200 for SC / ST / PWD / Transgender. The payment can be paid through net banking / debit card / credit card. Exact fee amount will be available when form releases.
The admit card for UGC NET examination will be available on November 09, 2019 at NTA’s website. Candidates need to enter their application number, date of birth and captcha code to download it. The timings of the exam, venue, NET subject, exam schedule and some instructions will be provided in it. Candidates are strictly advised to adhere to the instructions given in the admit card.
During the exam, candidates will be required to bring a hard copy of the admit card, one passport size photograph (same as upload on the online application form), a valid and original identity proof of pan card / aadhaar card / driving license / voter id / passport / aadhaar enrollment number / ration card / PwD certificate (if applicable).
The examination is scheduled to be held on December 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06, 2019. It will be a computer based test comprising of two papers. Paper I will be of 100 marks, primarily designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidates and paper II will be of 200 marks carrying questions from the subject selected by the candidate.
In order to be considered for both JRF and assistant professor, candidates (general) must secure atleast 40 % aggregate marks and 35 % marks by candidates belonging to (SC / ST / OBC / PwD / transgender) in the examination.
