The Delhi High Court has said that symbols associated with religion such as ‘kada’ and ‘kirpan’ wore by NEET aspirants are allowed on the exam. Such candidates will have to report one hour early to the examination hall. The court on Thursday said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cannot ban candidates from wearing them inside the NEET examination hall. As people are allowed to wear these inside aeroplanes as well. The NEET Exam 2018 will be held on May 6, 2018. The timings are 10 A.M to 1 P.M.

NEET is one of the largest medical exam conducted by CBSE for admission to more than 60,000 MBBS and BDS programme. This year 13,26,725 lakh students applied for NEET 2018. The number is rising as last year 11.5 lakh students had applied, a whopping 2 lakh increase in the number of students can be seen. The exam will be held in 2255 centers, across 136 cities. The result of the exam is due to be announced on June 05. However, before that, the NEET 2018 Answer Key will be provided by the Board for the assessment of the performance in the exam.

The CBSE had appealed the court, as per dress code of NEET 2018, against students wearing any such religious symbols or item made for it inside the examination hall. Justice S. Ravindra Bhatt and Justice S.K Chawla along with the bench have rejected the appeal. Stating that they cannot ban them purely based on ‘vague fears’ by the CBSE.

The bench said that we should not dwell on the fact that students will cheat based on uncertain fears. And that there are no such incidences where religious symbols have been used for such malicious act. If the CBSE goes about following its own rules many questions will be raised. Therefore, rules will not change based on some absurd reasons.

Last year, there was a lot of controversies based on dress code. It is important to note that for NEET 2018 the CBSE has made same guidelines for both, male and female candidates aspiring for admission to medical colleges. This year the CBSE has notified the candidates about the dress code before the Admit Card released. Candidates are advised to dress accordingly as they will be subjected to compulsory frisking prior to entering the exam hall. Highly sensitive metal detectors will be present at each center for proper checking of the candidates. Do not wear or carry objectionable material or attire which might get you into trouble.

Candidates must not that they should wear light-colored clothes with half sleeves. The buttons should not be big and the clothes should not contain any brooch, batch, flowers etc. In footwear sandals with low heels or slippers will be allowed. No shoes or closed-toed footwear are allowed inside the examination hall. No jewellery ornaments like rings, earrings, nose-pin, chain or necklace, pendants will be allowed. CBSE has also barred candidates from carrying items such as wallet, goggles, handbags, belt, cap, watch or wristwatch, bracelet, camera or metallic.

Candidates must carry their  NEET 2018 Admit Card on the examination day. You also need to carry one ID proof such as Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter Id Card etc. Along with this two passport size photographs are also required. Again the passport size photo brought should be the same that you uploaded on the application form. The Admit Card should be retained for future use.

All the best to all the candidate who will be appearing for NEET 2018. Don’t stress, just do your best, for sure the exam will go well. Good Luck!.
