NEET 2020 Prospectus

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the NEET 2020 prospectus, or the information bulletin, one day before releasing the application form. This time the document is 135 pages long, 27 pages more than last time.

While yesterday marked the take off for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 with the launch of the official website ntaneet.nic.in with a few basic details of the exam, today’s release of information brochure for the exam puts all confusion pertaining to the exam at rest.

The first change in NEET 2020 that catches the eye is a hike in application fee.

This time, the application fee for general candidates is Rs 1500. It is Rs 1400 for general EWS, OBC NCL. The fee is Rs 800 for SC, ST, PWD, transgender candidates.

Last time fee amounts were Rs 1400 for unreserved, OBC, and it was Rs 750 for SC, ST, PWD, transgender.

So while for unreserved candidates, the fee has increased by 7.14%, it has increased by 6.67% for SC, ST, PWD, and transgender. The fee amount remains same for OBC candidates.

This time the brochure says that candidates who wish to study undergraduate medical programs including medical, dental, ayurveda, siddha, unani, homeopathy will need to qualify NEET. Last time, this condition was imposed only on MBBS and BDS.

It is also confirmed through the prospectus, “admission to MBBS course in AIIMS, New Delhi, JIPMER and all AIIMS like Institutions will also be made through NEET”.

To download the prospectus, candidates need to go to ntaneet.nic.in, and click the link “information bulletin (english)” under the downloads section.

NTA has also published public notice inviting applications, in English as well as Hindi. While the pdf versions of the notices have been published on ntaneet.nic.in, they can be seen in leading dailies, in print media on December 2, 2019.

NTA will conduct NEET 2020 exam on May 3, 2020, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Applications will be accepted from December 2, 2019, to December 31, 2019. Application fee can be paid from December 2, 2019, to January 1, 2020. On both the last dates, the time at which the facilities will end will be 11:50 pm.

Candidates will be allowed to edit mistakes in their application forms from January 15 to 31, 2020. Admit card will then be released on March 27, 2020. Date for release of answer key will be revealed post exam. Result will be out by June 4, 2020.

All updates on NEET 2020 exam will be available at ntaneet.nic.in and nta.ac.in. for MBBS and BDS course guidelines, candidates should refer details at the website of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, mohfw.gov.in and that of Medical Counselling Committee at mcc.nic.in. Likewise, for BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS courses, refer Ministry of AYUSH website ayush.gov.in and AYUSH Admission Central Counselling Committee website aaccc.gov.in.

There is no change in exam pattern. The exam will be in pen and paper mode, with 45 questions of 180 marks each from physics and chemistry, and 90 questions of 360 marks from biology. Marking scheme too remains the same, +4, -1. The exam will be held in a total of 11 languages namely English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.
