Nagaland Board of Secondary Education (NBSE) conducted the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) 2021 examination from April 06 to 29, 2021. Results for the same are expected to come out soon on the official website nbsenagaland.com. Similarly, on April 22, 2021, the Directorate of Public Relations (DIPR) Nagaland took Twitter to announce that NBSE shall be conducting re-exams for candidates who couldn’t appear for the exams due to Covid-related reasons. Since then, there has been no update from the state education board regarding the re-examination schedule.
NBSE conducted the HSSLC 2021 exams in April 2021. Last year, the board conducted the Class 12 board exams from February 13 to March 03, 2020. Subsequently, they had announced the results on the official website nbsenagaland.com on May 30, 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic conducted a delay in the academics of students for the year 2020-21. Hence, NBSE was compelled to conduct the Class 12 board exams in April rather than February 2021.
Other states and central boards are venturing into other evaluation methods to curate the Class 12 board results. They plan to announce the results by July 2021 to not cause a delay in the upcoming academic year 2021-22. However, Nagaland has already conducted its Class 12 exams. Hence, they are expected to announce the results soon, preferably in the second or third week of June 2021.
Previously, NBSE was to conduct re-exams for HSLC and HSSLC candidates who couldn’t appear for their exams on the scheduled dates due to Covid-related issues. Thus according to the picture tweeted by DIPR Nagaland, candidates who couldn’t appear for the examination in one or more subjects can reappear for the same at a later date. Those students who had to go for COVID-19 testing but were tested negative can also appear for the re-exams. Such students must possess a COVID-19 negative report duly issued to them by the state medical department.
NBSE was expected to announce the exam dates and schedule for re-examination. Furthermore, candidates were not required to pay any application fee to appear for these exams. However, after the re-examination news on April 22, 2021, NBSE has not provided any inkling or tentative schedule for re-examination.
HSLC candidates who had missed their exams had submit their application to the board along with the photocopy of their admit card. They were also supposed to mention the subjects for which they had missed their examination. The same instructions had to be followed by HSSLC students. The deadline to complete these formalities was April 28, 2021, for HSLC students while it was May 05, 2021, for HSSLC students.
NBSE is likely to conduct these re-exams once the coronavirus situation stabilises in the state. Till then, candidates are advised to keep visiting the official website to get their queries resolved. If not re-exams, the board may come up with alternate criteria to evaluate such students.
