National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, a premier art gallery under Ministry of Culture is conducting recruitment of 11 vacancies in six unique posts. The gallery has notified openings in its New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru branches. As per the recruitment notification, there are 2 vacancies for the post of curator, 2 for deputy curator, 3 for public relation officer, 2 for upper division clerk (UDC), 1 for assistant library and information officer, 1 for security officer.

Candidates will then have to click on the pdf of the advertisement for filling up of curator, deputy curator, PRO, UDC, security officer and assistant library and information officer. Next, download and take a print of the format of bio data / curriculum vitae proforma form. Fill and attach all the copies of certificates of essential qualification / experience and send it so as to reach by the last date.

It will be the responsibility of a curator to look after art work display, educational and documentation planning, organizing guided tours and seminars, supervise museum shop and ticketing counter. To become a curator at National Gallery of Modern Art, one needs to have masters degree in fine arts, or history of arts and criticism, or museology and at least five years of curatorial experience in a large museum or gallery. Curator shall supervise the deputy curator, and Deputy curator will supervise assistant curator.
The same educational qualification is required for deputy curator, albeit only three years of work experience in organizing exhibitions, production and publication of books and journals on Indian art, or teaching museology or history of art or fine arts shall suffice.
PRO at NGMA must have a bachelors degree in journalism or mass communication, and two years experience in public relation, journalism, or event management. Assistant library and information officer on the other hand requires bachelors degree in library science or library and information science, and two years experience in a library.

The New Delhi branch is spread over 12,000 square meters, making it one of the world’s largest modern art museums. Fun fact related to the gallery is, that it was previously the palace of Mahraja of Jaipur, thereby giving the building the name Jaipur House.
