The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) announced revised examination date for the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2021. The KVPY 2021 exam is now scheduled to be conducted on January 09, 2022. The announcement about the new exam date was released on the official website of IISc Bangalore i.e kvpy.iisc.ac.in. Earlier, the KVPY exam 2021 was scheduled to be conducted on November 07, 2021, which got postponed after a petition was filed in the Madras HC regarding the issue of regional language.
The petition demanded the organization of the exam in all regional languages to guarantee equal opportunities to all. It was argued by the statement that in order to provide such a facility the conducting body lacked the resources this session. The High Court, however, directed the body to organize the examination in all languages from the next session. This session, owing to unavoidable reasons, the exam had to be conducted in English and Hindi only. Now, with the judgment passed by the High court, the KVPY 2021 exam is expected to become more accessible to young candidates.
The official notification released by the conducting body states that the candidates who have registered and submitted the fees for the KVPY 2021 exam can appear for the examination on January 09, 2022. It is observed that the examination date of KVPY 2021 is clashing with the examination date of the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM).
Both the examinations are scheduled to be organized on the same date and the candidates who applied for both must choose to appear on any one of the examinations.
KVPY is a national-level fellowship programme initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, GOI. It is an aptitude test for students from class 11th to the first year of basic science courses like BSc, BS, BStat, etc. Top institutes including the IISc Bengaluru and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs) provide admissions to their courses on the basis of the KVPY scores.
There is also a fellowship amount ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 7000 on the basis of the KVPY exam. The candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official website for further announcements about the release of admit cards for KVPY 2021.
