KVPY 2019 Answer Key

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has released the KVPY 2019 question paper and answer key officially, at kvpy.iisc.ernet.in/main/2019-questionpapers.htm. Students who appeared in SA, SB, SX streams can download the question papers, answer keys directly. The KVPY aptitude test was on Sunday.

IISc has also invited queries and comments from students until November 14, 2019. In order to submit view, emails need to be sent to [email protected]

The process of obtaining answer keys is online. Students who have appeared for the exam need to visit kvpy.iisc.ernet.in. There they will find the latest message displaying as “KVPY-2019 Question paper and Answer keys uploaded-Click here”. Clicking the click here link leads to the page with four documents. Two are question papers, and two are answer keys.

The reason students seek out answer keys after exam is to analyse their performance, and predict scores. Doing that requires marking scheme as well. IISc has officially provided the marking scheme in the answer key itself. As per the KVPY 2019 answer key for SA, for questions 1 to 60, 1 mark is awarded for correct answer and 0.25 is deducted as negative marking for wrong answers. Then for questions 61 to 80, 2 marks will be awarded for correct answers and 0.5 shall be the negative marking.

Whereas for SB, SX exam paper, IISc will award 1 mark per correct answer, and deduct 0.25 per incorrect answer for questions 1 to 80. Then for questions 81 to 120, students will get 2 marks for correct answers and 0.5 will be the negative marking for incorrect answers.

Thus total score in SA stream exam shall equal number of correct answers for qs 1 to 60 multiplied by 1, minus, number of incorrect answers for qs 1 to 60 multiplied by 0.25, plus number of correct answers for qs 61 to 80 multiplied by 2, minus, number of incorrect answers for qs 61 to 80 multiplied by 0.5.

Likewise in SB, SX stream papers, the total marks will be number of correct answers for qs 1 to 80 multiplied by 1, minus, number of incorrect answers for qs 1 to 80 multiplied by 0.25, plus number of correct answers for qs 81 to 120 multiplied by 2, minus, number of incorrect answers for qs 81 to 120 multiplied by 0.5.

As candidates already know, the KVPY aptitude test was online. Hence just releasing an answer key would have been futile as no one has the question paper. Thus IISC has published a master question paper, and against it a master answer key. When students check the paper, they may find that questions are in a different order than what they got in exam. However the questions themselves are the same. Answer key is given against this question paper. Which means that the correct answer of question 1 in the provided question paper is given as answer key of question 1 in the answer key; question 1 of the master question paper and answer key of KVPY 2019 may or may not match with the same question student got in the exam.

After accepting candidate inputs until Thursday of next week, authorities will compile a final answer key. Then using it, calculate they will marks of students who appeared in the exam. On the basis of the same, final marks, and thereby results will be announced. KVPY result is likely in December. Last year the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana was on November 4, and IISC declared result announced on December 20. Separate merit lists were made available for SA, SB, SX streams.

After the results, candidates will be called for interview process. Interviews are expected to be held in January-February 2020. After that, final result will be announced.
