Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a government program, initiated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and now run by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Students currently studying in class 11th, 12th, and first year of UG program can respectively appear in KVPY SA, SX, and SB. the KVPY Aptitude Test 2019 for selecting students for this year’s fellowships is scheduled to be held on November 3.
Online application forms have been accepted by IISc over kvpy.iisc.ernet.in until the end of August. And now, the KVPY 2019 admit card, or hall ticket is going to be released.
As per IISc, the exact date from which KVPY 2019 admit card download will begin has not been decided. However it is going to be in the second week of October, confirmed. Therefore officially the hall ticket can come anytime between the dates October 6 to October 12.
Last year the exam was on November 4, and the admit card was released on October 13. Considering that the gap between admit card release date remains similar every year, therefore there are higher chances of the hall ticket to be released around October 11 or October 12.
When available, the admit card can be downloaded from kvpy.iisc.ernet.in, via the admit card download link (that will be available only when hall tickets are uploaded). Students who have enrolled for the exam will have to login using user id and password.
Even though application form submission has closed, the online application link is still active on the website. Through it, now students can only login, and cannot make fresh registrations.
The login is important considering that it has forgot password option. A forgotten password can be reset by clicking that option, and entering user ID. For both the processes – login, and forgot password – user ID will be mandatory. The same should therefore be kept carefully for the hall ticket download process.
Whereas IISc has not published any brochure for KVPY 2019, all the details can be obtained from kvpy.iisc.ernet.in. Previous question papers provided on the website show the exam pattern as well.
There will be one set of question papers for stream SA, and another for SB/SX. As per last year’s question paper, SA paper has 80 questions, and SB/SX has 120. Both the papers have questions from physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology.
After the aptitude test, a selective list of candidates will be called for interview. Thereafter merit list will be formed by giving 75% weightage to the aptitude test marks, and 25% to that of interview.
KVPY fellows get Rs 5000 monthly fellowship during first to third years of B.Sc, BS, B.Stat, B.Math, Integrated M.Sc, MS. They also get an annual contingency grant of Rs 20,000. During M.Sc, and fourth to fifth years of integrated M.Sc, MS, M.Math, M.Stat, the fellows get a monthly stipend of Rs 7,000 and annual contingency grant of Rs 28,000.
