KIIT Deemed to be University has received accreditation from the renowned Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), USA, for six of its engineering programs for the next six years. ABET is globally recognized as the leading accreditation body for engineering and technology education, often referred to as the “Gold Standard” in the field. This accreditation ensures that educational programs meet the highest quality standards, adequately preparing graduates for the international workforce.
The accredited B.Tech programs at KIIT-DU include Computer Science & Engineering (accredited by both ABET’s Computing Accreditation Commission and Engineering Accreditation Commission), Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Notably, the B.Tech Civil Engineering program had already secured ABET accreditation for six years in 2022.
With this accomplishment, KIIT-DU joins an exclusive group of institutions that includes esteemed universities such as Harvard, Cambridge, Stanford, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania. The university’s dedication to academic excellence, robust research initiatives, and practical training has enabled it to meet ABET’s stringent standards, which evaluate curriculum quality, faculty expertise, and outcome assessments. This achievement underscores KIIT’s commitment to continuous improvement and student-focused education, solidifying its position among the world’s top educational institutions.
ABET’s rigorous peer-review process is internationally acclaimed for adding significant value to technical education programs, emphasizing the importance of quality, precision, and safety in these disciplines.
KIIT Joins the World Technology Universities Network (WTUN)
In another noteworthy development, KIIT has become a member of the World Technology Universities Network (WTUN) following the signing of the Network’s Consortium Collaboration agreement. This membership opens up a wealth of opportunities for KIIT students, including participation in global competitions, eligibility for the Brian Cantor Scholarship Prize 2023-24, involvement in hackathons, and access to exchange programs. KIIT is now among 20 prestigious universities worldwide affiliated with WTUN.
Approval for Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub (AICMRH)
Further enhancing its global engagement, KIIT has received approval under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to participate in the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub (AICMRH). The hub focuses on critical areas such as mineral extraction and processing, criticality assessments, economic geology, sustainable mining practices, and supply chain analysis. KIIT joins 17 Indian and 11 Australian institutions collaborating on this significant initiative.
Expressing his delight over these achievements, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, stated that these recognitions reflect the university’s commitment to providing high-quality programs that effectively prepare students for global careers. He highlighted that KIIT is the only university in India to hold accreditations from both the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, and ABET, USA, reinforcing its status as a leading institution in engineering education.
