The National Testing Agency has concluded Shift 1 of today’s JEE Main 2021 (Session 4) exam on August 31, 2021. The first shift exam was held from 09.00 AM to 12.00 PM. After the exam, the initial reaction of the students who took the test indicated that the level of difficulty of the paper was moderate. Evidently, the number of good attempts is also expected to be moderately high.
Section-wise analysis of difficulty level
Mathematics – As reported by candidates who took the JEE Main 2021 exam today, the Mathematics paper was lengthy. Candidates also reported that the paper was moderate in difficulty level and some questions involved a significant amount of calculations to be done.
Physics – Post-exam analysis of the question paper indicated that the Physics paper of today’s JEE Main 2021 shift 1 exam was also moderate in difficulty level following the same trends as the exam held on earlier dates. However, candidates also reported that the questions in this section were evenly distributed throughout diverse topics from the JEE Main 2021 syllabus.
Chemistry – As reported by candidates who took today’s JEE Main 2021 exam in the first shift, the Chemistry question paper was easy to moderate in difficulty level. The questions asked in this section were also evenly distributed across Organic and Inorganic Chemistry based topics leading to a balanced question paper.
Important Topics
The highest diversity of topics in today’s first shift JEE Main 2021 exam was seen in the Physics question paper. Candidates reported that in Physics, questions were asked from almost all topics from the Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus. Besides, NCERT based question pattern was also evident in today’s Physics paper in the shift 1 exam. The most important topics were Electrostatics, Modern Physics, Transistors and Logic Gates.
As stated, the Chemistry question paper consisted of questions from both Organic and Inorganic Chemistry in the 50:50 weightage ratio. Some of the most important topics were Chemistry in Everyday Life, Biomolecules, Polymers, etc.
In Mathematics, similar to the previous shifts of JEE Main 2021 (Session 4) exam held on earlier dates, Calculus formed a very important and high marks yielding topic. In particular, candidates reported that Class 12 based differential and integral calculus were more prevalent besides other important topics conics, probability and Algebra.
Good Attempts
The NTA is clearly maintaining a standard level of question paper in the JEE Main 2021 (Session 4) exam. Given the moderate level of today’s first shift exam, the overall number of good attempts can range anywhere between 55 to 65 out of 75 questions.
