The Supreme Court has cleared the path for JEE Main and NEET 2020 exam scheduled to be held in September. Students and parents who plead to postpone the exam due to COVID-19 have been assured that enough precautions will be taken on the exam day. The exam cannot be further postponed as it will lead to delay in the admission process and ultimately the career of the students will be hampered.
The bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra said that “life has to go on” despite Covid-19. The further postponement of the exam by interfering with the decision of NTA will be harmful to the careers of lakhs.
“Career of students cannot be put in peril. We find no merit in the petition. The petition is dismissed”, as decided by the Supreme Court of India.
Further, the bench counter-argued saying “Lawyers have demanded the opening of physical courts. But they want exams to be postponed. Postponement of exams is a loss for the country.”
The lawyer who stood for the petition, Alakh Alok Srivastava had argued that the vaccine for COVID-19 is on its way and they only demand postponement until then and not for an indefinite postponement. But the argument was not enough.
Effective to this decision of the SC, the petitions that were seeking no further delay of the exam has been withdrawn.
In the aftermath of the decision, students have flooded the social media with “disapproval” with SC’s decision.

Also, students are now looking forward to the NTA and MHRD in this regard, hoping that the authorities can still postpone the exams.
