JEE Main 2018 Paper 2 Analysis: Tricky And A Bit Lengthy

JEE Main 2018 examination for Paper 2 was concluded today at 5 PM. Candidates aspiring to take admission in B.Arch and B.Plan courses appeared in this paper. The examination was conducted across 112 test cities in India and abroad. Paper 2 of JEE Main was only conducted in the offline mode and will not be conducted in online mode further. Same as JEE Main Paper 1 candidates were asked to reach the examination centre 2 hours before the start of the examination for the frisking process. The gates of the examination centres were closed sharp at 2 PM.

JEE Main Paper 1 concluded as per schedule in the morning shift and as compared to last year, paper was relatively tougher as per the students. The overall difficulty level was moderate. Mathematics being the toughest according to many.

This year too no changes were made in the pattern of JEE Main paper 2. Candidates were given the choice of writing the paper in English or Hindi, whereas the candidates from Gujarat, Diu& Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli had the choice to write the exam in Gujarati.

The Paper 2 contained three sections, Aptitude, Mathematics and Drawing. The Aptitude section contained 50 questions for 200 marks and Mathematics contained 30 questions for 120 marks. Drawing paper consists of two questions carrying 70 marks which were to be attempted on a separate drawing sheet.

Majority of the students coming out one of the examination centres said the mathematics part of the question paper was bit tough.

Though the math part of the paper was difficult but the aptitude part of the paper was not easy either, as said by many. Drawing paper was lengthy, and most of the time was consumed by it.

Same as the Paper 1, the verdict of many student for JEE Main Paper 2 says that the questions were not very difficult but were tricky.

Students said that the general knowledge part of aptitude was manageable. Whereas, the Mathematics section was toughest of all the three sections.

In 2017, JEE Main Paper 2 was overall easy. There were no errors as such in the question paper. There were 82 questions out of which 50 aptitude, 30 Mathematics and 2 drawing. The two drawing questions were of total 70 marks. The marking scheme followed was +4 for correct answers and -1 for wrong ones. The math section was balanced and of easy to moderate level of questions covering all topics of Class XI and XII CBSE board. Overall the paper was evaluated as easy.

With JEE Main 2018 exam concluded in the offline mode, the next event that remains this year is the online mode of JEE Main exam on April 15 and 16. On completion of the online mode of examination, CBSE will release the official answer key on April 24, 2018. However candidates can check their answer using the unofficial answer keys that are being released by various coaching institutes.

The results of JEE Main 2018 for Paper 2 will be declared on May 31, 2018. The results for both paper 1 and paper 2 will be announced separately. The paper 1 result will be declared earlier on April 30, 2018.
