India Post has published a detailed recruitment notice to fill up 442 vacancies of Gramin Dak Sevaks. Respective engaging authorities in the Jammu & Kashmir circle are inviting applications for engagement of eligible candidates to the aforementioned post. A total of 442 vacant positions are advertised under different GDS engaging authorities. Eligible candidates can register online and apply at the website indiapost.gov.in and appost.in/gdsonline. The last date to submit the applications is August 05, 2020.
The vacancies are advertised in three post categories of GDS namely Branch Post Master, Assistant Branch Post Master, and Gramin Dak Sevak. Candidates should be at least 18 years old and not more than 40 years old as on the cut off date i.e. 06.07.2020. However, relaxations on the maximum age are applicable for candidates belonging to specific reserved categories. Candidates must have passed Class 10th with the necessary pass marks in the subjects of Mathematics, Local Language, and English. Knowledge of local language is mandatory and the local language of each circle of India Post is indicated in the detailed advertisement. In addition, candidates must also have a basic computer training certificate of at least 60 days. Candidates who have studied computer as a subject in Class 10 or 12 are exempted from having the basic computer training certificate.
Besides the age and educational qualification, there are other conditions for recruitment. Candidates wishing to apply for the post of BPM must provide accommodation for the Branch Post office after their selection as per standards prescribed in the detailed engagement notice. The knowledge of cycling is yet another mandatory eligibility condition imposed by the India Post for the recruitment of GDS across all post categories. Candidates must also have adequate alternative means of livelihood although this condition is not a prerequisite.
The selection of candidates is done on the basis of automatically generated merit lists. Marks obtained in the Class 10th exam will serve as the sole criteria for the preparation of the merit lists. Eligible applicants will be engaged in the aforementioned post as per the online engagement process for all categories of GDS based on provisions of the Directorate Letter No 17-23/2016-GDS dated 01.08.2016. An application fee of Rs 100 needs to be paid by all candidates except for female/trans-woman, SC/ST, and PWD candidates. The application fee can be paid online using Credit/Debit card or internet banking.
Candidates can apply for a maximum of twenty posts all over India per cycle inclusive of the vacancies in the home circle of the candidate. Candidates will be engaged for only one post as per the order of preference indicated in the application form. The applications can be submitted online through the aforementioned websites only. A list of specified documents must be uploaded as per the provisions indicated in the detailed advertisement. These documents include Class 10 marks memo and certificate, proof of age, community certificate, photo, signature, disability certificate, and transgender certificate.
