IIT JAM 2019 Form Correction Started; Know what details to edit and how to edit

The Joint Admission Test (JAM) 2019, to be conducted by IIT Kharagpur has now started the form correction for candidates who applied for the test. In the correction window, candidates can only request for a change in Examination center or If Category or Gender of the candidates had been entered wrong. The process for correction in the form will be carried only on fee payment that is further elaborated below.

To Change Test Center: If a candidate wishes to change the center they opted for the examination they can do so only if they have to change the zone of examination. To be clear there are a total of 8 zones in which JAM 2019 will be conducted. These zones have a list of cities from which candidates can choose a city of their choice. In order to change the city/ test center, such candidates have to submit the request to the exam conducting body for a change of examination City/Town. The request must be submitted along with a valid reason.

To request for a change in Examination center candidates will have to pay an amount of Rs.500/- payable by Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “JAM 2019”, on any Nationalized Bank, payable at Kharagpur. The candidates must submit the request along with the DD to the office of the Organizing Chairperson, JAM 2019, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721302. 

If the reason will be found valid the change will be entertained by although there is no guarantee regarding the change of center even after the amount s paid. The final decision will depend on the Organizing Chairperson only.

JAM 2019 Test Centers

To Change Category or Gender: If any candidate had made mistake regarding the gender or category they can request for a change by writing a request letter to the Organizing Chairperson of JAM 2019. To submit the request for the change in Category or Gender, the candidates need to pay an additional fee.

To change the Category or Gender need to pay the additional fee by Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favor of “JAM 2019”, on any nationalized bank, payable at Kharagpur. The DD must be sent along with a request letter to “The Chairperson, JAM-2019, GATE-JAM Office, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur-721302.

The last date to submit the request for the change in Test Center/ Category/ Gender in JAM 2019 Application Form is October 30, 2018. Any request for the change in these details after the last date will not be accepted.

It is also advised to the candidates to check the application status of their form. To check the JAM 2019 Application Status, one will have to log in at JOAPS by entering details such as Enrollment ID/ Password. However the organizing institute has mentioned that,

“Candidates need not worry, as the applications are currently under scrutiny. Candidates may wait until the scrutiny process is completed. For those candidates whose applications need to be rectified, in his/her photo/signature/other supporting documents, will be contacted by e-mail/SMS. The scrutiny process will continue” – JAM 2019 website

Once the form correction process is over, the candidates will then be issued the Admit card to appear for JAM 2019. It will be available for download online at jam.iitkgp.ac.in on January 04, 2019. The organizing institute will not send the hard copy of the JAM 2019 Admit Card by post or as an e-mail attachment. On the day of the test, the candidate has to carry the print out of the JAM Admit card along with one valid ID proof.

The Joint Admission Test, which is popularly known as JAM, is being conducted by IIT Kharagpur for admission to the academic session 2019. The entrance exam is held to shortlist candidates for admission in M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor’s degree programmes at IITs and IISc. JAM is a Computer-based Online examination. For all the seven test papers, the duration of the examination will be of 03 hours. The medium for all the test papers will be English only and there will be a total of 60 questions carrying 100 marks.
