The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the dates for CA Inter, Final, and PQC exams. According to the official announcement, the exams shall start from Monday, i.e July 05, 2021, onwards. The exams were postponed in view of rising COVID cases in the country.
ICAI in its official announcement has mentioned that the exams for Chartered Accountants Intermediate (IPC) {Under Old Scheme}, Intermediate {Under New Scheme}, Final {Under Old & New Scheme} will commence from July 05. The exams for Post Qualification Course, including the Insurance and Risk Management (IRM) Technical Examination and International Taxation – Assessment Test (INTT – AT) will also be held from July 05 onwards. A detailed schedule for the same will be announced shortly. However, the exams for the CA Foundation course will start on June 24, as scheduled.

ICAI made an announcement last month regarding the postponement of the exams in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation and considering the hardships that students are facing. The CA Final and Intermediate exams were scheduled to be held from May 21 and May 22 respectively. In the official statement, S.K Garg had said, “In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and in the interest of welfare & well being of students and to mitigate their hardships, it has been decided to postpone the Final and Intermediate Chartered Accountants Examinations which are scheduled to commence from 21st (Final)/ 22nd (Intermediate) May 2021 across the globe.”
The exams will be conducted in pen-paper mode and the candidates can choose between Hindi and English as their language. The time duration for each paper will be three hours except for the Elective Paper-6 for CA Final which will be of 4 hours, under the new scheme.
The ICAI conducts CA exams, also known as ICAI exams, for the aspirants of the Chartered Accountancy profession in India. The exam is conducted at three different levels: CA foundation course examination, CA intermediate examination, and CA final examination. Candidates have to qualify for all three examinations to be certified as Chartered Accountants. CA exams are considered as one of the toughest competitive exams. The number of students clearing the exam also remains very low. For instance, the pass percentage for the CA final exam held in Jan 2021 (old course) of both groups was 1.41% and 6% for the new course.
The CA foundation course exam is the entry-level exam of four subjective papers conducted in offline mode. Candidates who have passed their class 12 are eligible to appear for this exam. Candidates can register themselves for four months before the exam as a 4 months study period is compulsory. Students who qualify this exam are eligible to appear for the CA intermediate exams.
Now, since the date for the commencement of exams has been announced, CA aspirants can fuel their preparations and shape them in the best way. ICAI is yet to announce the dates for admit card release. Thus, the aspirants are advised to visit the official website of ICAI in order to stay updated.
