CAT 2020

IIM Indore is ready to hold CAT 2020 in around 156 cities across the nation. The scheduled date for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 is November 29, 2020. Amidst the pandemic, IIM Indore has decided to hold the exam in 3 shifts rather than 2, to be able to accommodate all candidates with proper implementation of social distancing norms.

This year, things are different as we go about the new normal. CAT exam will be no exception. With the admit card of CAT, the candidates have been instructed to follow certain guidelines that are new this year and are very important to note. Here is the new list of things that the candidates have to take to the exam hall of CAT 2020.

#1. The COVID-19 Kit

The candidates have to carry with them masks, 50 ml hand sanitiser bottle, gloves, and a personal water bottle. The masks and gloves must be the candidate’s own.

#2. Take 2 pens

The candidates are allowed to bring with them 2 simple pens to the center.

#3. The declaration form

With the CAT 2020 admit card a self-declaration form has been also issued to each of the candidates. The aspirants have to fill it and show it to the personnel assigned at the exam center to take entry.

The rest of the things that the candidates have to carry with them like last year include:

#4. ID card – Original and Valid

Candidates have to take anyone the non-expired and original ID proof that is issued by the Government of India. This includes – PAN card / Driving License / Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar Card (With photograph) / E-Aadhaar /Ration Card / Identification Affidavit.

#5. Photograph affixed on the admit card

The candidates have to affix a photo on the admit card in the spec provided before presenting it at the exam center.

Other than the things to be carried at the exam hall, a few new instructions have been added for the candidates to follow on the exam day. These are as follows:

Social distancing is to be followed by the candidates at the exam hall from the point of entry to the point of exit.

Candidates have to get their temperature checked at the exam center, using the thermo gun.

The candidates with symptoms of fever, cough, or cold will be isolated. They will be allotted isolation rooms with enough safety measures.

Lab number and application number of the candidates will not be displayed on the notice boards at the exam hall like every year. This year to avoid the accumulation of the crowd, the lab number will be conveyed to the candidates individually at the entry gates.

Candidates have to follow the directions of the personnel at the center to enter and exit the venue.

All candidates have to report to the exam hall as per the time mentioned on their admit card. The time slot for entry at the exam hall will be also intimated to the candidates via SMS. The entry will be strictly as per the allotted slots.

Dress code for CAT 2020

Shoes / footwears with thick sole are not allowed and garments with big buttons will be also not permitted. Candidates must not wear any jewellery or other items containing metal.

Do not take these items to the CAT 2020 exam hall.

The candidates under no cost carry mobile phones, electronic gadgets, watches, calculators, stationery items, papers, wallets, goggles, etc.

This year, CAT 2020 exam timing has been reduced from 180 minutes to 120 minutes. To attempt each section, candidates get 40 minutes each. Also, candidates cannot jump from one section to another throughout the test. PwD candidates will get an extension of 20 minutes per hour to complete their test.
