Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is going to end the registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2022 examination in two days i.e., September 24, 2021. So, this is a reminder for all those candidates who are yet to complete and submit the online application form. They are instructed to complete the registration formalities on the official website gate.iitkgp.ac.in to avoid any late fee charges. Beyond September 24, 2021, GATE 2022 authorities have also provided an extended period for submitting the application form. However, this period does come with a specific condition.
What is extended period for GATE 2022 registration?
An extended period in case of GATE 2022, refers to a week or 7-day period from September 25 to October 01, 2021, to submit the online application form. However, to avail this additional time, candidates have to pay Rs.500 extra as late fee charge along with the application fee. Candidates can refer to the table given below to know difference in fee charges –
|Category of Candidate||Fee During Regular Period||Fee During Extended Period|
|Female Candidate (per paper)||Rs.750||Rs.1250|
|SC, ST, PwD Candidate (per paper)||Rs.750||Rs.1250|
|All Other Candidates (per paper)||Rs.1500||Rs.2000|
Aspirants can pay the GATE 2022 application fee through any one of the permitted online payment modes i.e., net banking, debit card or credit card or wallet. Moreover, candidates must also bear the additional bank or transactional charges while paying the application fee. To avoid the extra charges, candidates are advised to complete the application form as soon as possible and submit it on gate.iitkgp.ac.in.
Once the registration process ends, GATE 2022 authorities will go through all the applications received and display the defective ones on October 26, 2021.
Candidates will get time up to November 01, 2021, to rectify and submit their application forms. Beyond this period, IIT Kharagpur will cancel the candidature of defective applications, if any. Hence, candidates who are yet to submit their application form are advised to fill it correctly to avoid any later rectifications. Those who have already submitted their forms must visit the official website frequently for any update on their forms.
Apart from GATE 2022 form rectification, aspirants will also get time to change their paper, category or exam. This facility will remain open till November 12, 2021. To make these changes, aspirants must bear the additional fee charges. Hence, it’s better to select the correct exam centre or paper at the first instance.
According to the GATE 2022 information brochure, the exam is scheduled to be conducted on February 05, 06, 12 and 13, 2022. The exam will be held in two sessions on each day – 1.
