Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur recently announced the application and examination schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2022. The application process is all set to begin from August 30, 2021, on the official website gate.iitkgp.ac.in. IIT Kharagpur will also be releasing a branch-wise schedule in the next four months, preferably by December 12, 2021. The official schedule does not mention this date. It is merely a prediction based on past-year records. GATE 2022 examination is all set to be conducted on February 05, 06, 12 and 13, 2022, in a shift-wise manner.
GATE 2021 examination was held on February 06, 07, 12 and 14, 2021. A branch-wise schedule for the same was announced on December 12, 2020. Due to the similarity in the examination schedule this year and last year, the GATE 2022 branch-wise schedule is likely to be released around the same time. This schedule will specify the exam date, time along with various papers.
IIT Kharagpur has announced the introduction of two new papers in the GATE 2022 examination. These papers are namely, Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NM). Due to the introduction of two new papers, the branch-wise schedule may witness a significant difference in comparison to previous years. Candidates can simply access branch-wise schedule on the official website gate.iitkgp.ac.in, as and when released.
As of now, the GATE 2022 branch-wise schedule is secondary. Interested candidates must keep track and ponder on the registration schedule. The registration process is set to begin in 17 days i.e., on August 30, 2021. Candidates have time up to September 24, 2021, to complete all the registration formalities. This period is the regular period in which candidates won’t have to bear any late fee charges.
Beyond this, candidates can still apply for the GATE 2022 examination latest by October 01, 2021. However, they will have to pay late fee charges in addition to the application fee. After the registration period ends, IIT Kharagpur will display the incomplete or incorrect applications on the official portal. Candidates with defective applications can make the required rectifications by November 01, 2021. Beyond this, authorities will neither provide any correction facility nor entertain any requests in this regard.
However, applicants can make changes in their subject paper, category and exam city sections of the GATE 2022 application form by November 12, 2021. But, these changes cannot be made free-of-cost. Candidates will have to pay additional charges to avail this facility. So, they are advised to fill their application carefully beforehand to avoid any changes later on.
