The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has successfully conducted the second day of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022. The entrance exam will be held for two more days, i.e. on February 12 and 13, 2022. Today’s examination was held for a total of 08 papers including Chemical Engineering (CH). The paper was scheduled for the afternoon session from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. This time, the GATE 2022 exam is being held in the computer-based test (CBT) mode.
Moreover, the examination paper contains objective-type questions. Soon after the conclusion of the exam, the candidates seem to be looking for the answer keys and the question paper solution. So, read till the end as we will be giving every detail of the GATE 2022 Chemical Engineering answer keys.
Where to check?
At this point, only the unofficial answer keys are available. The official answer keys will be hosted on gate.iitkgp.ac.in in some days’ time. In the meantime, candidates can make use of the answer keys that are released by the GATE 2022 subject experts and coaching institutes. Here are the steps that one can follow.
Step 1- Go to YouTube at youtube.com
Step 2- Type ‘GATE 2022 Chemical Engineering answer key’ on the search box
Step 3- A list of videos will appear
Step 4- Check the question paper discussion videos and calculate a tentative score.

Marking Scheme & Exam Pattern
The overall pattern of questions in the CH paper contained Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. These questions mainly tested the candidate’s recall, comprehension, application, analysis and synthesis skills. A total of 65 questions were asked in the exam. Moreover, these questions were divided into 10 from General Aptitude (GA) and 55 from Chemical Engineering. The marks distribution in the paper is done as per the criteria given below.
- General Aptitude (GA) – 15 marks
- Engineering Mathematics – 13 marks
- Chemical Engineering (CH) – 72 marks
There will be negative marking in the exam. For every 01 mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted and for every 02 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks from the question will be deducted.
