Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is going to conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2021 from tomorrow i.e., February 5, 2021 at specific test centres across the country. The exam is scheduled on February 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14, 2021. On each day, the examination shall be conducted in two different shifts – forenoon and afternoon sessions. Through this exam, candidates can get admission for various postgraduate courses in the field of science. With less than a day left for the exam to begin, here are certain last-minute instruction to follow.
Candidates appearing for GATE 2021 examination have to carry an A-4 sized print-out of the admit card along with a valid, original photo ID. This ID may be Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, college ID, Driving License or Employee License. However, the photo ID must coincide with the one specified by the candidate while filling the application form. Photocopy, scanned copy or an expired document shall not be accepted by the authorities.
GATE 2021 Admit card is valid only if the candidate’s signature and photograph and legible and visible in the document. Moreover, the candidate’s photograph and photo ID must match with his/her appearance on the day of the examination. To ensure this, students are advised to use a laser colour printer to print the admit card on an A-4 sized paper. The documents mentioned are important and must be present at the time of entry into the exam hall.
Candidates shall be provided with a virtual scientific calculator on the screen during the examination. They are not permitted to bring personal calculators, any kind of watches, wallets, mobile phones, electronic or communication devices. Etc. They are also not allowed to bring charts, papers, tables or any study material to the examination hall. Candidates possessing these things shall be disqualified. Moreover, authorities shall not be responsible for safe-keeping of any personal belongings.
A scribble pad shall also be provided to the candidates on which they will have to write their name and registration number compulsorily before using it. Students must also note that they can possess only one scribble pad at any time. In case they require a second scribble pad, they must return the first one to the invigilator present. At the end of examination, all candidates must return their scribble pads in possession to the authority.
GATE 2021 examination shall be conducted in two sessions – forenoon session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Candidates shall be allowed inside the exam hall 40 minutes before the scheduled time. They shall also be permitted to logon and read the exam instructions 20 minutes prior. Under no circumstances will any candidate be allowed to login to the exam beyond 30 minutes from the scheduled time. Hence, they are advised to reach the examination well before the allotted time.
