IIT Delhi will close the GATE 2020 registration form, with normal fee amount, on September 24, 2019. Online applications are currently being accepted over the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) at appsgate.iitd.ac.in.
The national level entrance exam – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – not only serves as the gateway for admission to masters programs in engineering, technology, architecture, its scores are also accepted by PSUs for the purpose of recruitment. In fact it was observed that the number of candidates applying for GATE shot up ever since PSUs started accepting the exam scores for recruitment.

After September 24, 2019, and until October 1, 2019, interested candidates will be able to apply, but a higher fee amount will be applicable then. This second duration when forms will be accepted but fee will be different is termed as “extended period”.
Those who apply right now will have to pay the following fee amount category and gender wise: females – Rs 750, all SC, ST, PWD – Rs 750, others – Rs 1500, candidates applying from Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu – USD 50, candidates applying from Dubai and Singapore – USD 100. Whereas in the extended period, these respective fee amounts would be Rs 1,250, Rs 1,250, Rs 2,000, USD 70, and USD 120.
Thus in essence, applicants have to pay Rs 500 more in extended period in the case of Indian location applicants, and USD 20 more for outside India location candidates.
