IIT Madras has declared the GATE 2019 Result and with the cutoff for all the 24 subjects have been also revealed. The candidates who will get a score equal to or more than the cutoff marks will get their GATE 2019 Scorecard from March 20, 2019.
The cutoff marks for GATE 2019 is made available in the GATE 2019 Result for all the 3 Categories- General, SC/ST/PWD and OBC. The cutoff marks for Mechanical engineering (ME) is 34.1 for the UR quota, 30.7 for the OBC students and 22.7 for the SC / ST / PWD candidates.
For the Computer Science (CS) subject, the cutoff is 29 for the UR quota, 26 for the OBC students and 19 for the SC / ST / PWD candidates. For the Electronic Engineering (EE) Subject, the cutoff marks are 39.6 for the UR quota, 35.6 for the OBC students and 26.4 for the SC / ST / PWD candidates.
For the Civil Engineering (CE) subject the cutoff for the General category is 28.2, for the OBC students it is 25.4 and for the SC / ST / PWD students, it is 18.8. For the XL subject the general cutoff is 36.7, for the OBC students it is 33.0 and for the SC / ST / PWD students, it is 24.5.
The candidates who will be qualifying the exam will get their scorecard. The scorecard is the document that will be used in the various admission process and PSU recruitment too. the scorecard of GATE is valid for 3 years from the day of declaration of the scorecard.
To check the GATE 2019 Result the candidates have to loin at GOAPS using their enrollment number/email id and password. In doing so the GATE 2019 Result appear on the screen. The candidates can save a copy of it for future references.
The cutoff for ME in for the general category candidates have dropped by 0.6 points. Last year the ME cutoff for the General category was 34.7. However for the EE subject the general cutoff last year was 29.1, which this year has increased to 39.6.
The general cutoff last year for CE was 26.9 and this year it is 28.2, an increase is seen here too. Also, the cutoff in the general category for CS was 25 last year, which this year is 29. For the XL subject, the general cutoff has gone up too, from 29.9 last year to 36.7 this year.
This shows that the general cutoff has dipped for ME only. For CE, CS and EE it has gone up.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering abbreviated and widely known as GATE is a national level examination. It is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) to grant admission in M.E / M.Tech / M.Arch /PhD program. This year IIT Madras had the responsibility to conduct GATE, the responsibility is shuffled between the IITs every year. Candidates will be granted admission on the basis of GATE AIR and GATE Score.
Candidates can also use this GATE score to apply to different Public Service Undertaking (PSUs). Some of the PSUs that usually recruit through GATE are Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI).
