The National Institute of Fashion technology has released a notification regarding the change of mode of conduct of the entrance examination CAT/GAT 2022. The exam will now be conducted online as a proctored exam because of the rising number of covid cases across the country according to the official notification.

The notification was released on the official website of NIFT at nift.ac.in today, January 20, 2022. The examination will be held on February 6, 2022. The details regarding the examination and the detailed instructions on the conduct of the exam will be released on January 23, 2022.
Due to the pandemic several exams were conducted in a remote practored method in 2021. In the remote proctoring method the students giving the exam will be proctored remotely using artificial intelligence to monitor malpractices. In 2021 exams like GMAT, AIMS ATMA, LSAT, BVP BMAT, AEEE, IIMC Entrance test etc were conducted in the same manner. The candidates must have a PC/LAptop with a good internet connection to attend the remote proctored examination. The candidates who do not own a PC/Laptop should be prepared to borrow one from someone or should find a convenient place with the requirements to take the exam.
The NIFT CAT/GAT is the national level entrance examination conducted for the admission to various courses conducted by NIFT and other institutions accepting the NIFT score. Even though the exam mode has changed, there will not be any change in the syllabus and pattern of the examination.
The candidates have to appear for Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) in the NIFT entrance examination. Candidates who clear these tests for BDes course admissions will be shortlisted to appear for the Situation Test and the candidates seeking NIFT admissions in MDes, MFM and MFTech have to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview round.
There will be a total of 100 objective type questions in the NIFT GAT paper.The written exam or the GAT is divided into four sections. First section is Quantitative Ability, second is Communication Ability and English comprehension. The third part of the exam is Analytical Ability and Logical Ability. The fourth and the final part of the exam is General Knowledge and Current affairs. The CAT exam has 3 drawing questions with a maximum of 100 marks.
Since the NIFT GAT/CAT 2022 is conducted online there might be a change in the CAT paper. The details of the exam will be available on the official website of NIFT.
