Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is conducting special rounds to fill the vacant seats in NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs. The CSAB 2018 Special Round Registrations started on July 24, 2018. Initially, the last date to register was July 26, 2018, however, this date was extended and the last date is now July 27, 2018, until 2 PM. Also, as per the latest notice on the website, 2 new business rules have been added.
As per the notice the rules state that – “In case of students from the north-eastern states competing from Home State quota seats in the special round, there shall be a one-time relaxation in the eligibility condition regarding the 12th Class marks; and candidates who secured at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD) in the 12th class shall be eligible to apply. ” And, “In case, any Home State quota seats remain vacant, such seats shall be converted into All-India quota to be filled on the basis of merit in the given category. ”
After the choice filling and registration is done CSAB will declare the seat allotment result. The tentative seat vacancy before the special rounds are being conducted is also made available in the website, csab.nic.in.
Candidates who were eligible for JoSAA as per JEE Main 2018 Ranks are eligible for participating in the special rounds. However, candidates who have not registered in JoSAA till now but are eligible as per their JEE Main 2018 Ranks are also eligible for participating in the Special Rounds by CSAB as per the JoSAA rules.
In addition that the candidates who had registered for JoSAA but had not been allotted any seat, are also eligible to participate in the special rounds. Except for the IITs, special rounds are conducted for all the vacant seats remaining in the IIITs, NITs, and GFTIs.
Since today is the last date to register, eligible candidates have to register online for the special round through CSAB portal csab.nic.in and then make the payment for participation. Thereafter candidates have to proceed for choice filling locking process online. After practising the choice and confirming the seat candidates have to visit the reporting centres. The seat allotment special round 2 will be also conducted similarly.
