The Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) will be releasing the admit cards for the entrance exams to the various courses at the institute tomorrow, i.e. May 12, 2022. Candidates who will be appearing for the entrance exams will be able to download the admit cards from the official website – cmi.ac.in. The CMI entrance exam is going to be conducted on May 22, 2022 across multiple examination centres in the country. However, the exact location of the exam centre will be mentioned on the admit cards. Note that all entrance examinations will be held in a single afternoon session that will start from 2 PM onwards.
Syllabus
CMI will be conducting the entrance examination for a variety of courses like B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics and Computer Science, B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics and Physics, M.Sc./Ph.D Computer Science, M.Sc./Ph.D Mathematics and M.Sc. Data Science. Although the course-wise entrance test syllabus has been given on the official website, the same can be checked below.
B.Sc. (Hons) Course
This entrance exam will be a test for an aptitude for Mathematics and will have both objective and long-answer questions. The topics will be covered as per the class 12 NCERT standard. There will be two parts to the question paper. Please take note that this will be a common entrance test for both the B.Sc. courses.
M.Sc./Ph. D Computer Science
CMI entrance test for this course will be an aptitude test for Computer Science. There will be both problem-solving questions and problems that require detailed solutions. The topics that are mostly covered in the questions are discrete mathematics, algorithms, basic computer organization and some programming.
M.Sc./Ph. D Mathematics
The entrance test will mainly test the aptitude of the candidates for Mathematics. There will be both multiple-choice questions and problems that require detailed solutions. The topics that will be covered for the test are algebra, real analysis, complex analysis and calculus.
M.Sc. Data Science
The M.Sc. Data Science entrance exam will mainly test the aptitude of the candidates in mathematics, statistics and computer science. It must be noted that the questions will primarily test the familiarity with school level mathematics, discrete mathematics, probability theory and programming.
