The syllabus of social science is not so wide. Class 10 social science is the advanced version of what you have learned in class 9. Thus, it is easy for students to understand each and every chapter.
CBSE class 10 Social science consists of India and Contemporary World- II (History), Contemporary India- II (Geography), Democratic Politics- II (Civics) and Understanding Economic Development (Economics). Each section is of equal weightage i.e of 20 marks. Thus, the entire question paper is of total 80 marks. The History and Geography section also consists of the maps of 5 marks. The remaining 20 marks includes the marks awarded for disaster management section and the internal assessment. The internal assessment consists of 5 marks for the project work and rest of the marks of internal tests and others.
India and Contemporary World- II (History) consists of total 8 chapters. Here is the list of all the respective subjects.
The Rise of Nationalism in Europe, The Nationalist Movement in Indo – China, Nationalism in India, The making of a Global World, The Age of Industrialization, Work, Life & Leisure, Print Culture and the Modern World, Novels, Society and History.
Contemporary India- II ( Geography) consists of total 7 chapters. The list includes the following subjects.
Resources and Development, Water Resources, Agriculture, Minerals and Energy Resources, Manufacturing Industries, Life Lines of National Economy.
Democratic Politics- II (Civics) consists of total 8 chapters. This includes the following.
Power Sharing & Federalism ( Chapter 1 and 2), Democracy and Diversity & Gender, Religion and Caste ( Chapter 3 and 4), Popular Struggles and Movements, Outcomes of Democracy, Challenges to Democracy.
Understanding Economic Development (Economics) consists of total 5 chapters. Here is the list of all the chapters included in Economics.
Development, Sectors of the Indian Economy, Money, and Credit: Role of money in an economy, Globalisation, and the Indian Economy, Consumer Rights.

For proper understanding, better learning students are advised to refer the books such as India and the Contemporary World-II (History)- NCERT, Contemporary India II (Geography) – NCERT, Democratic Politics II (Political Science) – NCERT, Understanding Economic Development – NCERT, Together Towards a Safer India – Part III, a textbook on Disaster Management – CBSE.
CBSE class 10th examinations for session 2019 will start after February 15. The board has not yet released the entire schedule. But it is expecting that by the month of December CBSE will come up with the entire date sheet of class 10th and 12th.
