A petition filed with the Supreme Court has objected to the cancellation of the Class 12th board exams. One section of the people is seeking cancellation of the exam while another section is asking the court to suspend the cancellation orders. The National Council of CBSE School has urged the HRD minister to rethink and withdraw the cancellation order of the class 12th exam. The NCCS has requested the Court and Minister to conduct the exam later on when the pandemic is relaxed.
Both the groups have their reasons for filing the petitions. The first group that is seeking the cancellation is fearing the safety of the students amid the surge in the covid-19 cases. While the second group that is seeking non-cancellation of the exam is worried regarding the future of the candidates. As per a statement issued by Indira Rajan, Secretary of National Council of CBSE Schools, the class 12th mark sheet is one of the most relevant documents that a candidate need to produce for taking up admission to any prestigious college. The board also highlighted the fact that a lot of students have not performed well in their pre boards or internal exams. If the class 12th marksheet is made out of the marks scored in the internal assessment then it will jeopardize the career of a lot of students.
The board has further stressed conducting an online test for the class 12th students if offline exams are not possible. After the board has raised a question on the cancellation, a lot of teachers are now stepping up and joining the cause. They are stressing the fact that without taking up an actual test the Intermediate students cannot prove their merit for any professional course. The CBSE board has now agreed to conduct an online test for the class 12th students. In this way, the council can have a better knowledge of the aptitude of the students and clarity regarding their preparation level.
Amidst this, the Union Minister of HRD has reviewed the whole scenario of online and offline studies and has asked the states to provide a suggestive measure on the process of conducting the exam safely for the candidates. A proper announcement with a concrete decision is the need of the hour as the majority of class 12th students are in a state of panic regarding the future of their career. The CBSE board will commence a review meeting on the class 12th exams in the first week of June.
