The Central Board of Secondary Education effectively concluded the CBSE Class 12 Biotechnology paper today, December 28, 202. Students expressed the exam paper to be trickier as compared to the Sample question paper provided by CBSE. According to reports, more than 5 lakh students appeared for the CBSE class 12 Biotechnology exam today. Students reported to their respective examination center, 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. The exam commenced at 11.30 am for an hour and a half at various affiliated schools across the country. Questions based on gene prediction & counting, assertion & reasoning, case studies, and diagrams were asked in the exam.
Paper was conducted for 90 minutes and students had to submit their OMR sheets sharp at 1 pm. As per the reports, the question papers were distributed at 11.10 am sharp. Soon after reading all the instructions carefully, OMR sheets were distributed at 11.30 am. Students were allowed to read the question paper for 20 minutes before the commencement of the exam, however, they were not allowed to mark anything on their OMR sheets. CBSE term 1 Biotechnology exam commenced at 11.30 am and concluded at 1 pm.
CBSE Class 12 Biotechnology Question Paper Breakdown
The question paper had three sections namely: Section A, Section B, and Section C. A total of 60 questions were asked in the question paper. Section – A consisted of 24 questions out of which any 20 questions were to be attempted from this section. Section – B consists of 24 questions (Sl. No.25 to 48) out of which any 20 questions were compulsory to attempt for full marks. The first 20 attempted questions will be considered while evaluating in both Section A and B . Lastly, Section C consists of one case followed by 6 diagram-based questions linked to the prescribed syllabus. Any 10 out of 12 of these questions were to be attempted in this section.
Questions asked in today’s examination were framed from the following syllabus: Biotechnology – an overview, Molecules of life, Genetics of molecular biology. A total of 60 questions were asked in the exam for a total of 40 marks. 60 questions were divided into 3 sections where the first two sections consisted of 24 questions each whereas the last section consisted of only 12 questions.
Furthermore, there was no provision of negative marking in the CBSE term 1 exam. Students were asked to darken the correct circle in the OMR sheets using black or blue ballpoint pens only. The use of pencil was strictly prohibited and was considered an unfair means. All questions carried equal marks. Answer keys to the Class 12 Biotechnology paper will be released by CBSE in due course of time.
