CBSE Class 10 English Analysis

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today, December 11, 2021, conducted the last major subject exam for Class 10 students. The English (Language & Literature) paper was held from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, in the objective-based pen-and-paper format. Most students neglect languages, considering these subjects to be simpler than others. However, today’s paper was not in tandem with the usual understanding. In fact, the CBSE Class 10 English Term 1 paper was standard, testing a student’s reading and understanding skills. While the overall paper was moderate, it was lengthy to complete for most students.

CBSE Class 10 English Term I Exam Analysis

According to most students, the overall CBSE Class 10 English Term 1 exam was easy but lengthy, as students were aiming to solve at least 50 questions within the span of 90 minutes. While some students found the Grammar section tricky, surprisingly enough, the Literature section was not a tough nut to crack. Others, however, had a slightly differing opinion.

A few Class 10 students stated that the Literature section was simple. but the options under each question were similar and confusing, making it difficult for students to guess the right option at the first instant.

In the case of Unseen passages, most students found Section A to be difficult. The reason was that although the questions contained hints, they were slightly unrelated to the passage. Due to a lack of clarity in this segment, many had to spend ample time on solving this section.

Coming to the writing section, several students could comfortably solve this section of the CBSE Class 10 English Term 1 exam, only because they had prepared well. Those who might have neglected this section during preparation would have found it difficult to complete, especially in such limited time.

Most students, however, will agree that today’s CBSE Class 10 English Term 1 exam was not entirely easy. It was moderate in terms of the level of difficulty, especially due to confusing questions or options. A student was expected to pay close attention to what was asked in order to mark the right option. So, while many students can expect to score above 30, only a few can dream of achieving the perfect score of 40 out of 40 marks.

Here’s a gist of the analysis –

# Literature – Easy, straight-forward questions

# Grammar – Easy but for some, tricky

# Unseen Passages – Moderate, especially due to confusing options

# Writing Section – Difficult if not prepared well
