With the COVID-19 cases rising everyday, it has opened serious discussion about conducting the upcoming CBSE class 10th, 12th board examinations 2021. India has been witnessing spike in coronavirus cases since February. Several states and Union Territories (UTs) including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Punjab have imposed the lockdown and restrictions again to break the pandemic chain.

Students across the country are demanding to postpone the class 10th and 12th board exams. Though many like Punjab, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh have filled in the student’s demand by postponing the board examination, however, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently announced that the exams will be held as per the schedule, i.e from May.

Many political leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Bollywood celebrities have also joined hands in support of the students and have asked the authorities to consider canceling the board exams and pass the students based on the internal assessment. Furthermore, the media reports suggest that the Ministry of Education and the CBSE held a crucial meeting for deciding whether to postpone class 10th and class 12th  board exams or not. Though the meeting remained inconclusive, however, the media reports suggest that the board is mulling deferring the exams amid the spike in cases.

As per a report by TOI, the officials said that they are not planning to cancel the CBSE board exams 2021 or to conduct them in online mode. The only point of discussion are the exam dates and the number of cases are rising everyday. As a part of assessing the situation, the increase in COVID-19 infection, containment zones, etc are being discussed. However, the primary concern for the board is the safety of the students and teachers which will not be compromised in any case.

CBSE official earlier confirmed that the board exams will be held as per the schedule and the board is making adequate arrangements to ensure the students are safe and all COVID protocols are followed. Furthermore, the number of exam center have been increased by 40-50 percent to ensure social distancing.

Recently, Maharashtra Board and Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) also decided to postpone the board exams. Maharashtra SSC, HSC 2021 exams will now be held in the month of May and June. Likewise, as per the revised UP board 10th, 12th date sheet 2021 released, the exams will now start from May 8 and will continue till May 28. Furthermore, the Chattisgarh board also recently announced that class 10th exams have been postponed till further notice.
