IIM CAT 2021 Preparation

Indian Institute of Management Common Admission Test (IIM CAT) 2021 examination is just around the corner and candidates are gearing up to finish their last-minute preparation. The postgraduate management exam is all set to be conducted on November 28, 2021, through the computer-based format. Admit cards for the same will be released on the official website iimcat.ac.in on October 27, 2021. To get into a sought-after IIM, candidates must score at least 99 percentile marks in the admission test. This score is a safe zone that can guarantee a seat in the top IIMs located in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Kozhikode, etc. So, for a student who is currently scoring only 60 percentile marks, here are some important tricks and tips to follow to hit the 99th percentile bar.

Firstly, before starting with the CAT 2021 last-minute preparation, candidates must determine the reason why they want to pursue MBA. This question is of course crucial for interviews and future placements. But more importantly, it helps candidates understand their future aspirations. So answering this question can motivate candidates to work harder for the entrance examination.

Another important point to incorporate in last-minute preparation is to focus on the difficult or vulnerable areas in the IIM CAT 2021 syllabus. This can be done by solving sectional mock tests regularly along with full-portion mock exams. Sectional tests cover a very concentrated portion and hence, are useful in covering a wide range of topics in a particular chapter.

Apart from revising and re-visiting the syllabus, candidates must focus on developing three important aspects of the IIM CAT 2021 examination. These three factors are – 1. familiar and good speed, 2. familiar but slow speed and 3. strategies for each subject.

The first factor comprises topics that are easy and quick to solve. Candidates must revise these topics quickly to dedicate the remaining time to other topics. The second category of topics must be revised by solving multiple mock exams. Here, the aim is to build speed rather than focusing on conceptual clarity. And finally, for each subject, candidates must decide on a definite strategy. To know whether these strategies work or not, try to use them during mock tests. Try and test our various strategies before the exam so that time can be used optimally.

In the case of the CAT 2021 syllabus, nothing can be predicted for certain. A general skeleton of the syllabus is known but the exact topics to cover are not known. So, just to be on the safer side, solve advanced-level sectional mock exams to not build a knowledge base but also get an edge over others in terms of preparation. In the end, while attempting the actual paper, candidates will not get intimidated by the difficulty level of questions.

IIM CAT 2021 covers subjects that aren’t too difficult to understand and learn. However, no matter how much one prepares, one or more topics are left out. So, rather than focusing on these topics, candidates must revise what they know and what they have learned so far. The aim is to score the best percentile but not the 100th one.
