CAT 2021 Registration Deadline

Today, September 15, 2021, 5:00 pm is the last day to register for the Indian Institute of Management Common Entrance Test (IIM CAT) 2021. Interested and eligible candidates are instructed to complete the online registration formalities on the official website iimcat.ac.in before the deadline runs out. The computer-based examination is all set to be conducted on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Authorities will be issuing admit cards for the entrance exam a month prior, on October 27, 2021, 5:00 pm. Hence, candidates who have already registered for the same are advised to keep tabs on the official website for any latest announcement or update. Even referring to a reliable or credible news portal will prove useful for CAT 2021 aspirants.

Will deadline be extended?

There are high chances that IIM Ahmedabad, the organizing institute, will extend the deadline for CAT registration. Last year, the registration deadline was initially September 16, and extended to September 23. However the extension last year, was dictated by two key causes – 1) Disruption caused by COVID, 2) Low registrations received. This time, factor #1 is not as prominently in play, and for #2, there is no data available as of now about the number of registrations. Thus, this time, chances of deadline extension are 50-50.

CAT 2021 exam will be conducted on November 28, 2021, in a computer-based format. The exam will be held in three sessions – forenoon, afternoon and evening. Each candidate has to appear for the exam as per the timings mentioned in his/her admit card.

The CAT 2021 question paper will comprise of three sections – 1. Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, 2. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and 3. Quantitative Ability. The paper will cover both MCQ and non-MCQ type questions. However, the exact number under each type will not be disclosed before the exam. Hence, candidates need to keep this surprise element in mind while preparing for the entrance exam.

In case of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each correct answer will be allotted 3 marks while 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. 0 marks will be allotted to every unanswered question. In case of non-MCQ-type questions, the marking scheme remains the same as applicable in case of MCQ-types questions. However, there will not be any negative marking in case of wrong answers.

For candidates who are yet to apply for the IIM CAT 2021 examination, here is a brief process to complete the registration formalities on iimcat.ac.in –
