Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, has released first media release for Common Admission Test-2019. The nation’s biggest management entrance exam will be held on November 24 and the registration for it starts from August 07, 2019. The details notification for the CAT will release on coming Sunday, July 28, 2019.
IIM-K will hold CAT 2019 in two sessions, for graduate aspirants. The registration of CAT will only open online, on the official website iimcat.ac.in. To apply, the candidates will first have to register by entering name, date of birth, e-mail address, country, and mobile number. Following this, the user id and password will be generated and candidates will be able to fill personal, educational, work experience, program, exam city, and other details. The last date to apply is September 18 and the issuance of the admit card is due from October 23, 2019.
The amount of application fee is yet to be announced. However, it is expected that it will increase by Rs. 100 and will be around Rs. 2000. The candidates will only be able to pay the fee online, from credit card / debit card and net banking.
The exam will be held across the nation, in 156 cities. During registration, the candidates will be able to fill 4 choices for the test center. However, only one will be assigned to the candidates. IIM-K has decided to assign test city only after registration process is over, so that, the candidates are in no rush to book slot and test city.
There is no change in the exam pattern of CAT 2019. The exam will be of 180 minutes and candidates will get 60 minutes each to solve VARC, DILR, and QA section. The exam will be computer based and each question in the exam will be of 3 marks each. There will be negative marking of 1 marks in the exam. The number of question in the exam is not disclosed beforehand. However, for past few year, 34 questions each are being asked from VARC and QA section, whereas, the number of questions from DILR has been 32.
The type of questions in CAT will be MCQs and TITA. Candidates will be have to answer TITA by typing the answer. The facility of virtual calculator will be provided to the candidates. During the exam, the candidates will not be allowed to switch from one section to another. For better understanding of the candidates, IIM-K will release tutorial on October 16, 2019.
CAT is a national level examination, conducted by IIMs on rotational basis. The score of the exam is accepted by more than 200 B-Schools, other than all the Indian Institute of Management. The competition the exam is fairly high, as more than 2 lakh candidates apply for the exam.
