There are many reports which are claiming that the CAT 2018 will be conducted by the IIM Calcutta. CAT is the largest MBA entrance exam for which every year over 02 lakh candidates apply. The exam date for CAT 2018 has been announced officially; it is scheduled to be held on November 25, 2018.
CAT is conducted every year by one of the older IIMs on a rotational basis. None of the IIMs which have been established in 2007 or after that has been given the responsibility for conducting the CAT. So, the possibility of any new IIM to conduct the entrance test is very less or not at all.
IIM Calcutta is one of the top three IIMs in India and is the only management Institute in India to have been accredited by all the 3 reputed International Accreditations of AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.
Why will IIM Calcutta conduct the exam? As per the unofficial sources, during the past six years, this is the first time that IIM Calcutta will be conducting Common Admission Test (CAT). IIM Indore is the only IIM which has conducted CAT exam for consecutive two years during last 6 years.
Is this claim 100% true? Though the possibility for IIM Calcutta is as per the unofficial sources only. There is no official confirmation on that. Also, IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozikhode are one of the top contenders in this race. The unofficial resources have claimed that IIM Calcutta will conduct the exam after six years. One fault in this claim is that IIM Kozikhode is also one of the older IIM which will conduct the exam after six years. So, the possibility for IIM Kozikhode to conduct the test is same as IIM Calcutta. Moreover, IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozikhode have conducted the exam once only like IIM Calcutta.
However, the confirmation of this can only be done once the notification for CAT 2018 is released. The notification is usually available in the month of July/ August 2018.
One of the unusual which happened for CAT is that the exam date has been announced two and half months before the release of CAT Notification.
The registration process for CAT 2018 will begin from August 08, 2018 online at iimcat.ac.in.
It has been observed that there is always some change introduced by the new IIM which conducts CAT. One of the major change for CAT 2018 is the early announcement of the exam date. Also, the aspirants can expect that the notification will be available on or after the Last week of July 2018. The Common Admission Test or as it is popularly known as CAT is a national level entrance exam. It is conducted by the IIMs on a rotational basis every year.
