In the latest notice, Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has notified the changes in the admission process for the year 2019. The board has scrapped BCECE examination and will take admissions via JEE Main and NEET scores. Both of these examinations are conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) at the national level.
From now on, candidates have to appear JEE Main or NEET, in order to pursue Engineering/ Medical programmes from the Indian state of Bihar. There will be no BCECE examination and the score of the two major exams will be considered. The final admission will take place via counseling process. This new initiative may or may not ease the burden for the future test takers but it has created inconvenience for the candidates aspiring to take admission this year.

First, the sudden change in the admission process has created a hassle for candidates who were planning for BCECE instead of JEE Main examination. There are many students who appear for multiple examinations to increase their prospects for admission. But now candidates have to appear for JEE Main to secure admission in the institutes of Bihar.
Second, the registration for JEE Main attempt is over and will be wrapped in the month of January 2019. Candidates have already lost the first chance. Students now have to rely only on the scores of the second attempt (April session) to get an admission. Third, the preparation for the exam, candidates who were solely preparing for the BCECE examination, now have to prepare according to the JEE Main pattern.
For JEE Main, there are still two attempts but for the NEET there has been only one exam in a year. The registration for which has been already December 07, 2019. So, medical programme aspirants who have not registered for NEET has already lost the chance to appera for the exam. It will create a big problem for candidates who are waiting for BCECE examination for the medical admission.
Apart from this, there will be many problems faced by the aspiring candidates. So, it is expected that NTA and BCECE will take a decision which will be in the interest of the students aspiring for admission this year. Any decision regarding this must be taken as soon as possible, so that students can plan their future steps accordingly.
It was from this year only that the NTA has taken the responsibility to conduct the exams like JEE Main, UGC NET, NEET etc. In which there were problems faced by candidates that NEET to be conducted in online mode. But after considering the quandary of rural students, NEET continued to be the offline examination. The NEET 2019 is scheduled to take place on May 05, 2019. JEE Main April 2019 exam will take place between April 07-21, 2019.
