Assam TET 2019 Likely on 22 or 29 September; Here Are 7 Important Things You Should Know

Empowered Committee, Elementary TET is reportedly in discussions for holding Assam TET 2019. Teacher aspirants of the state have had to wait seven years for this. Here are the key aspects of the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test 2019 one should know about.

#1. Validity of TET Pass Certificates. The matter of conducting teachers eligibility test in Assam is imminent as it has been seven years since last TET, and TET pass certificate remains valid only for these many years as per NCTE norms. In view of expiration of last Assam TET pass certificates, competent authority is also considering proposing NCTE to extend validity of the same upto March 31, 2020.

#2. Conduct of Assam TET 2019. Next TET in Assam is likely to be held on either September 22 or 29, 2019; both are Sundays. It will be for LP meaning lower primary, as well as UP meaning upper primary levels. The state level teacher eligibility test shall take place in state of Assam including 6th schedule districts.

#3. Medium of examination. As it was in the last TET, this time also the exam will be in five mediums, that are Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi, English.

#4. Language I for Assam TET 2019. Although medium of exam shall be similar to last time, however the authorities shall consider regarding selection of Language I, by taking into account the language strategy of the state.

#5. Inviting applications for TET. The exam conducting body shall invite applications from LP UP Teacher aspirants in online mode. Candidates will be able to fill and submit form in online mode.

#6. Involving a third party. It is likely that a third party will be involved for the purpose of online events such as accepting online applications, issuance of admit card, result display, and so on.

#7. TET Assam 2019 Application Fees. An estimated figure of Rs 750 to Rs 1000 has been proposed to be the application fee amount. This has been done considering the exam to be a self-funded process, meaning that the exam be held using fees received through it. However there may be relaxation for SC, ST, OBC candidates. Final decision with regards to the fee shall be conveyed through notification.

The various bodies involved in the initial decisions pertaining to Assam TET 2019 include Bodoland Territorial Council, SSA Assam, Elementary Education Assam, SCERT Assam, SEBA.

At the moment, some of the ongoing Teacher Eligibility Tests in India include CTET 2019, CG TET, HP TET, Tripura TET, TNTET.

Another north-eastern state to have recently released Teacher Eligibility Test details is Tripura. Tripura TET 2019 online application form is available through April 30, 2019, to June 20, 2019.

Those who wish to become teachers of classes 1 to 8 in India, need to appear and qualify in TETs. The minimum qualifying marks in it are 60%, that is 90 out of 150. In most cases, the qualifying percentage is 55% or 83 marks for reserved category candidates.

Last time that the TET exam in Assam took place, around 26,100 vacancies were filled. Now it is reported that there is a paucity of teachers in schools, with some being run by a single teacher. Reports show that there are around 36,500 vacancies of teachers in Assam, which this TET will seek to fill.
