Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) set a new Guinness World Record on October 14, 2020. The education board bagged the title for the most users taking an online Artificial Intelligence (AI) lesson in just 24 hours. The record was set after a whopping 13,000 students of classes 8 and above were delivered the lesson between October 13 and 14, 2020.
The online lecture was a part of the ongoing AI for Youth Virtual Symposium programme conducted through the online mode. The programme was jointly organised by Intel and CBSE. The Education Minister of India, Dr Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘Nishank’ took to Twitter to congratulate the education board on this gigantic achievement.

The Director- APJ, Global Partnerships and Initiatives at Intel, Shweta Khurana commented on this situation that Intel continues to work with the current ecosystem to help unlock noteworthy and helpful benefits of AI. The company’s collaboration with CBSE has overcome multiple challenges to nurture the AI-acceptance in the nation.
These challenges include formulating an AI-based curriculum for students, setting up AI-specific skill labs in the country and providing skill-facilitators to the CBSE schools. The AI for Youth Virtual Symposium is another step to involve students and teachers in this wave of innovation and learn from local and global AI-based experts. Winning the Guinness World Record shows the readiness and d enthusiasm of India’s youth in accepting AI and contributing to this world of innovation and technology.
Biswajit Saha, Director, Training and Skill Education CBSE, also congratulated CBSE and Intel for their efforts in establishing appropriate AI-based skillset and mindset among students under the AI for Youth programme and achieving this mindset through their commitment. AI continues to be one of the most researched technologies due to its potential to boost-up India’s digitalization efforts. It is important to create readiness and awareness especially in the nation’s youth through their learning journey as soon as possible.
The AI for Youth Symposium has welcomed participation from students studying in standards 8 and above as well as their respective school teachers and principals. Participants are given the facility to access numerous sessions with national and international experts, as per their preferences. They get to hear a variety of perspectives on the transformational effects of artificial intelligence, constructing digital readiness and making upcoming technologies open for all. The programme also provides interactive sessions, participation in experimental zones and live webinars.
The AI for youth Symposium is an important aspect of the 2020 Virtual Summit being conducted in the country from October 12 to 16, 2020. The summit has been organised by Intel in collaboration with the industry, government and academia. These efforts have been taken with the intention of diving into the potential of AI to solve problems pertaining to population-scale.
