XAT 2019 Exam Pattern

The Xavier Labour Relation Institute (XLRI) announced the exam dates for XAT 2019. As per it, the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) will be held on January 06, 2019. XLRI conducts the XAT exam every year on behalf of XAMI. With the exam dates published online, few changes were noticed in the entrance exam.

One of the major change which comes as a relief to many students is the removal of the essay question. The officials have stated on their website that “The overall exam pattern remains same as last year but no essay”. Hence, the mode of the examination remains the same as last year as well as the syllabus, except that the candidates will no longer get essay question in the entrance examination.

XLRI, Jamshedpur has been conducting XAT exam for over 60 years now and the exam pattern hasn’t been changed much. However, this sudden removal of the essay question was not expected by anyone. Moreover, the officials also have not explained as to what was the reason to remove the essay question.

Now with the essay question no more in the picture, the duration of the test also changed. So, XAT 2019 will now be of 03 hours duration (10:00 AM to 01:00 PM), which earlier was 03 hours and 25 minutes.

The removal of the essay has some positive and negative impact on the entrance exam preparation. Definitely, most of the candidates must be relieved that there will be one question less in the entrance exam. The candidates can take this change in their own favor by now focusing on the Aptitude part, which generally takes a lot of time in preparation.

Most of the candidates who generally appear for CAT also appear for other MBA entrance exams. The syllabus for XAT and CAT is very much similar but most of the students would back off from XAT exam due to its essay writing part. Now, the candidates can focus Decision Making Section and verbal ability section of XAT, which is considered to be challenging in the XAT exam and their preparation for CAT exam can help them for other MBA exams as well.

Also, now the candidates can easily manage their time as they will have to answer MCQ type questions. One of the most important part of the preparation is time management. Whether it is CAT, CMAT, XAT or any other exam, if the candidates can manage their time well in the entrance exam, half of their problem is solved.

Aptitude part takes up a lot of time in the entrance test, and to top that one essay question of 200 words made it even more difficult. Hence, now candidates can keep all their focus on Aptitude and GK to prepare for XAT 2019.

The registration for XAT 2019 will start from August 20, 2018, and the last date for submitting the application form is November 30, 2018. There has been an increase in the application fee and mode of payment. The candidates can now have to pay the registration fee of Rs. 1700/- for XAT 2019 and the mode of payment has been changed from online and offline to online mode only.
