The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) will release the application form for the Civil Service (Executive) (WBCS) exam at wbpsc.gov.in. Candidates have to complete the One Time Registration (OTR) first and then fill out the application form. Candidates can apply online till March 24. The application fee for the exam is Rs.210. The SC/ ST/ PwD candidates do not have to pay any fees. The exam will be conducted in 26 centres across the state of West Bengal. The pay scale for Groups A, B, C and D varies from Rs.32,100 to Rs.1,44,300.
Eligibility criteria
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in any disciple from a recognised university.
- Ability to read, write and speak Bengali.
- Minimum 21 years of age (Group A, C, D) and 20 years (Group B).
- Maximum 36 years (Group A, B, C) and 39 years (Group D).
- Upper age relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ ST.
How to apply for WBCS 2022?
Step 1: Open the website wbpsc.gov.in.
Step 2: In ‘Candidate’s Corner’, click on ‘One Time Registration’.
Step 3: Fill up the basic details, generate password and click on ‘Register’.
Step 4: Now, in ‘Candidate’s Corner’, select ‘Login if already registered’.
Step 5: Login using enrolment number and password.
Step 6: Now, start filling up your application form.
Step 7: Upload the relevant documents and complete the payment of application fee.
The application form and the payment is to be made online. The candidates are advised to save the enrolment number and password. The application edit window will be open from April 1 to April 7, 2022.
WBCS Exam Pattern
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination – This is a screening test based on which candidates will be selected for the next stage of the recruitment process. The exam will be conducted for a total of 200 marks, with 200 objective questions. The total duration of the prelims exam is 2.5 hours. There are 8 sections in the exam, each carrying 25 marks.

Stage 2: Main Examination – The exam consists of 6 compulsory papers and 1 optional paper. Each paper carries 200 marks and the duration is 3 hours. The optional paper is to be attempted by candidates who have applied for Group A/ B.
Stage 3: Personality Test – Candidates who have qualified the Main exam will be called up for the personality test. The weightage of personality test in Group A/ B is 200 marks; Group C – 150 marks and Group D – 100 marks. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the Main exam and personality test.
Stage 4: Medical exam – Selected candidates will have to attend the medical exam prior to the recruitment.
