Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is going to conduct the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2021 on May 28, 29 and 31, 2021 through the online remote-proctored format. Previously, the examination was scheduled for June 2021 at allotted test centres. However, the examination format was changed, and the schedule was revised due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Authorities recently announced certain guidelines and instructions which are to be followed during the examination. They further advised candidates to appear for the exam at home or in any safe environment having a reliable internet capacity.

During the remote-proctored online exam, candidates shall be monitored on their primary device i.e., a Windows, Linux or Mac desktop or laptop. They shall also be monitored through a secondary mobile device, either an android or iOS smartphone. Therefore, candidates must ensure that they have the required devices and internet connection. In case they do not own these devices, they are advised to hire, rent, or borrow them before the examination. To be on the safer side, they must keep backup devices as well for the exam.

To appear for the examination, candidates must sit in a quiet room without any external disturbances. They must not take the test in a public place. In case of any disturbance observed by the examiner, candidates may get disqualified after a thorough check from primary and secondary devices. Furthermore, the candidate’s devices must only be connected to the internet and not any other device. In case such a connection is found, the candidate shall be disqualified.

The candidate must be the only occupant of the room. The appearance of any other individual in the room shall be deemed as malpractice. Additionally, candidates are instructed to only use the device speaker and any other wireless or wired audio. Authorities shall be carrying out a 360-degree check of the candidate’s surroundings through the primary and secondary devices. Candidates are also not permitted to use any other tab or browser during the examination. Any attempt to do so either for engaging with others or searching for answers shall be deemed as malpractice.

The entire video or audio streams shall be recorded during the exam duration and any violation of the guidelines shall result in the candidate’s disqualification. Aspirants are also instructed to attend the VITEEE 2021 mock test on May 20, 2021, to check the compatibility of devices. A detailed list of instructions shall be provided during the mock test. The link to attend the test shall be sent to the aspirant’s registered email ID or mobile number. The same ink shall be available on the official website viteee.vit.ac.in.

VIT shall be conducting three mock tests on the same day which the candidates must attend to check their internet speed as well. The first test shall be auto-proctored while the second test shall be human proctored. The second mock test must be booked in advance. Two days before the mock test i.e., on May 18, 2021, candidates shall receive their login credentials via SMS or email.
