UPSC IAS Topper 2018: Know How Kanishak Kataria and Srushti Jayant Deshmukh Aced the Exam

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the Civil Services Result 2018 on Friday in the evening. The result has been announced at the official website i.e. upsc.gov.in. Kanishka Kataria is the 1st male and Srushti Jayant Deshmukh 1st female topper of the UPSC Civil Services 2018 examination. Kanishka Kataria belongs from Jaipur, Rajasthan and he has completed his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering stream from IIT Bombay. Srushti Jayant Deshmukh from Bhopal completed her engineering (Chemicals) last year from a Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal.

Kanishka Kataria Father is also in the civil services, So he had a dream that his son also qualifies the civil services examination. But Kanishka Kataria was not assured about his future goals, So first he completed his graduation and after graduation, for 2 to 3 years he did the job. In South Korea, he worked for 1 and a half year and then he moved to India. During the job, his inclination developed for appearing in UPSC Civil Services examination.

Kanishka Kataria said that he started preparation for UPSC Civil Services examination in the year of 2017. In the first attempt, he cleared the examination his optional subject was mathematics. In Delhi, for 5 and 8 months he had taken basic coaching for doing the preparation and from the last arch i.e. March 2018 he started doing self-study. Two months before the UPSC Civil Services 2018 Mains Examination he studied around for 8 to 10 hours in a day but as the main examination came nearer then he started studying for 14 to 15 hours daily. Kanishka Kataria showed gratitude for his achievement to his parents, girlfriend and family members.

Likewise Kanishka Kataria, Srushti Jayant Deshmukh cleared civil service examination in her first attempt. But the difference is she never taken any coaching. Srushti Jayant Deshmukh said that It’s her childhood’s dream to clear UPSC Civil Services examination. As no one in her family ever attempted the exam and neither they had proper information. Hence she gathered information about the Services, and the syllabus fascinated her.

Further while talking about the exam preparations, she said one should have Positive Attitude while preparing for CSE. She used to study for 5 to 6 hours daily, she never joined any coaching center, she prepared for the examination on her own. She used various test series and study materials for doing the preparation. For her achievement, she gave the credit to her parents, teachers, friends, and brother.
