National Testing Agency (NTA) issued a public notice on Sunday, June 20, 2021, regarding the extension of registration deadline for the Uttar Pradesh Common Entrance Test (UPCET) 2021. The notice was published on the official website upcet.nta.nic.in. Accordingly, the registration deadline has been extended to July 06, 2021, up to 5:00 pm. Moreover, the last date to pay the application fee has also been extended to July 06, 2021, up to 11:50 pm. Thus, interested candidates have been given an extra two weeks to register for the state-level entrance exam.
According to the public notice, UPCET 2021 is offering admission to a variety of undergraduate courses at three reputed institutes – 1. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) Lucknow, 2. Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology (MMMUT) Gorakhpur and, 3. Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur. The admission process shall take place for the upcoming academic year 2021-22. While this process is being planned, students are requesting NTA to extend the registration deadline.
Previously, as per the public notice issued on April 14, 2021, UPCET 2021 was scheduled for June 15, 2021. The last date to submit the application form along with paying the application fee was May 10, 2021. However, the second wave of coronavirus created havoc and the exam was indefinitely postponed while students faced multiple hurdles while applying for the same. Taking this into consideration along with the incessant requests made by students, NTA has decided to reschedule the registration deadline to July 06, 2021.
The intent of the agency behind extending the deadline is two-fold – 1. To remove the hardships faced by students due to the pandemic and 2. To encourage larger participation in the UPCET 2021 examination. Additionally, candidates will be given the facility to make changes or corrections in their application form from July 08 to July 14, 2021. Candidates can make the necessary changes in the application form on the official website upcet.nta.nic.in.
While the schedule for registration and correction is known, the exam date is still a big mystery. The country is on the verge of overcoming the second wave of COVID-19. However, with the risk of the third wave, it is hard to predict when the entrance exam will be conducted. In case everything normalises completely, the entrance exam may be conducted in the fourth week of July or in the month of August 2021. Other states and national level exams are also tentatively slated during the same time period.
While the uncertainty continues, candidates are advised to check the official website consistently for important updates. UPCET 2021 shall be conducted this year to offer admission to different courses such as B.Tech., B.Pharm., B,Des, BBA, etc.
