An important update came in the form of an announcement by UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar. Accordingly, the next session of UGC NET shall be conducted in the first or second week of June 2022. This session will be held for the merged cycles of December 2021 and June 2022. The announcement came in the form of a tweet via the chairman’s official Twitter handle @mamidala90. It was refute her retweeted by NTA on the same day.

UGC NET 2022 – Announcement & Details
The UGC chairman’s announcement via Twitter highlights two important aspects of the exam – 1. Exam date for upcoming session and 2. Exact schedule to be announced after finalisation of dates. In case of former, the UGC NET 2022 exam is likely to be held between June 01-15, 2022. However, NTA is yet to finalise the dates. These will be announced later, via the agency’s official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

UGC NET 2022 – Tentative Exam Schedule
As of now, there is no clarity about the UGC NET 2022 exam date or application schedule. Only the tentative exam month has been announced by the UGC chairman. However, on the basis of previous sessions, candidates can predict a tentative calendar of events.
If the UGC NET 2022 exam is scheduled in June 2022, the application process is expected to begin in April 2022 itself. This may give candidates a month’s time to fill and submit the online form. Usually, the application form releases two months prior to the exam date. However, time has run out to follow this trend, form releasing this month is the best bet.
The UGC NET 2022 application form is likely to release online, on the official website ugcnet.nta.nic.in. So, candidates must keep an eye out for any official announcement or notice by the agency on this website.
Another important prediction on the basis of past years is the exam pattern. Accordingly, the UGC NET 2022 exam is likely to be held in the computer-based format, at selected centres across the country. The test shall comprise of two papers – Paper 1 which is compulsory for all and Paper 2 which is subject specific. More details regarding the exam pattern are also awaited.
