Tamil Nadu State Board has decided to cancel the Class 10th Boards exam. With the splurge in the COVID-19 cases in the state and country, Tamil Nadu Government and Board have ended up in a mutual decision to cancel the Class 10th exam. However, the State Board of School Examination, Board of Higher Secondary Education, Tamil Nadu has not yet released any official notification in this regard. Aspirants must regularly visit the official website, tamilnadustateboard.org to get the recent update of Tamil Nadu Board Exam 2021.

As per the reports, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary C.Vijaya Baskar has said that the Tamil Nadu Class 10th exam is cancelled. He further added, “This will prevent the congregation of students. We’ve had episodes of COVID infection in 14 schools in Thanjavur Dist. Here, we are focusing on micro-containment & cancelling non-essential activity,”.

Recently, around 14 schools in Thanjavur districts had witnessed COVID-19 cases. State CM has also said that COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu State is going out of control.  Each day, Tamil Nadu is witnessing thousands of coronavirus cases. The state has recorded 7,819 cases on Wednesday and approx 8,000 cases earlier that day (as per the reports). In view of the sudden spike in coronavirus case in the second wave, the government has decided to cancel the Class 10th exam. This will decrease the chances of the students getting infected by this deadly virus.

Earlier, the Class 12th exam was scheduled to commence from May 03, 2021, onwards. Exam 12th board exam was scheduled to take place in the entire month sporadically ending on May 21, 2021. However, the Board postponed the exam to May 05 to 31, 2021, due to Tamil Nadu State Elections. The Tamil Nadu 10th Boards exam were scheduled to take place from May 05, 2021. Now, the Board has cancelled the TN 10th Board examination.

However, TN State Board has not yet released any official notification announcing the cancellation of the Class 10th examination in the State. It is expected anytime soon. Moreover, there is no such update on the postponement/ cancellation of the TN Class 12th Board exam as of now.

This decision to cancel the TN Board 10th Class exam was announced a few hours after Education Minister announced the postponement of the CBSE Class 12th Boards exam and the cancellation of the Class 10th Boards exam. Other than Tamil Nadu Board, Maharashtra Board, MP Board, Himachal Pradesh Board, UP Board has postponed the Class 10th and Class 12th examination.
