After a long wait of over 3 years, the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers is finally going to be conducted in 2021. Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara posted on Twitter few hours ago that the REET 2020 exam is to be conducted on April 25, 2021. Earlier, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the official dates on the occasion of 2 years completion of the ruling party in the state. The examination is to be conducted to fill up 31000 vacancies in the year 2021.
The announcement of the REET 2021 exam dates comes as a big sigh of relief to more than 10 lakh prospective candidates. Candidates in the state have been waiting for the government to approve the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan to conduct the exam for more than 3 years now. It may be noted that the teachers’ eligibility exam was conducted for the last time in the year 2017.

After long standing speculations as to when the REET exam could be conducted, it is only during the month of October 2020, that Chief Minister Gehlot officially approved the proposal of the Education Department to conduct the exam to fill up huge vacancies for teaching posts. Previously in the examination was once decided to be conducted in December 2019 for recruitment of 21000 teachers. However, in the most recent proceedings of the state government, 31000 vacancies have been approved.
It was previously also indicated that the REET exam could be tentatively conducted in February 2021 while the notification was expected to come out at rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in in November 2020. Now that the exam date has been announced by the top authorities, aspiring candidates can expect the official notification to release anytime soon.
Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers is a state level competitive examination conducted to certify candidates for recruitment as teachers in the state. Those who cleared the REET exam before became eligible for recruitment as a teacher in Primary Level (Class to 5) and Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8) in schools and institutions of the state. The minimum educational qualifications required to appear in the REET exam is Class 12th pass of Graduate degree. However, since the exam was conducted almost three years back last time, aspiring candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for all updated terms and conditions as soon as it is available.
As per the previous year scheme and pattern of the REET exam, there are two papers. Candidates aspiring to be certified as a teacher of Primary Level must take the exam for Paper 1 while those aspiring to be certified as a teacher of Upper Primary Level have to take the test for Paper 2. There are 150 questions in each paper which carries one marks each while the exam is conducted for a duration of 2.5 hours for each paper.
