National Institute of Mental Health And Neuro Sciences has invited the applications from desirous candidates for the post of Research Fellow and Research Assistant. Recruitment is conducted to appoint eligible candidates for the 07 vacant posts. The official notification in this regard is released recently on the NIMHANS website, nimhans.ac.in. Applications against the announced posts can be submitted on or before the last date i.e August 27, 2020.
The total vacancies of NIMHANS recruitment are bifurcated as follows, 01 vacancies for Research Fellow, 06 vacancies for Research Assistant. These posts are completely on contractual basis under the project titled “Improving Outcomes in Mental and Physical Multimorbidity and Developing Research Capacity (IMPACT) in South Asia”. This project is led by Dr Santosh K Chaturvedi who is a professor of Psychiatry and Principal Investigatory. Those who get selected as Research fellow receives Rs. 50,000/- per month and Research Assistant gets Rs. 35,000/- per month.
Candidates who possess PhD/ MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work/ Clinical Psychology or DPM/MD in Psychiatry/ Community Medicine are eligible for Research Fellow post. Those who have a Master degree in Public Health or MSc in Psychiatric Nursing are also eligible for this post. To apply for Research Assistant post, MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work / Clinical Psychology with one year experience is required. Candidates with MA/MSc in Clinical Psychology with two year work experience can also apply. Moreover, knowledge of Kannada language is a must for Research Assistant post. General knowledge of common, severe mental disorders, non-communicable diseases, severe mental disorders, ability to contribute in the research grant applications, the experience of conducting research with carers, healthcare and patients is a desirable qualification for Research fellow.

Applicants who fail to furnish the details and certificates are not considered for the recruitment.
Based on the work experience and eligibility, candidates are shortlisted for the interview. Acknowledging the current situation, the interview will be conducted through video conferencing. The date, time and venue for the same will be communicated later on in NIMHANS website. The initial appointment for Research Fellow and Research Assitant is for 06 months. Determined by requirement and performance during the initial period, the service period gets extended up to 01 years.
