NEET 2018 Counselling: Court Allows MCC To Declare Second Round Result

The matter regarding NEET 2018 writ petition no. 3885/2018 was heard in court today, on 31 July 2018. Neither MCC nor any other body has published any official notification on its outcomes. However, as per a copy of the notes, it seems like permission has granted for the same.

Read the point number 2 in notes given below.

  1. Heard for some time.

2. Subject to outcome of petition and without prejudice to contentions of petitioners in the matter, we permit respondents to declare the list of candidates successful in securing seat in second round.

3. Copy of list with merit of such candidate shall be made available for perusal of this Court on next date.

4. List the matter on 2nd August, 2018.

5. An authenticated copy of this order be given to learned Advocates for parties.

The case being heard at Supreme Court, regarding OBC quota, shall be heard shortly. Regarding that case, the following information is available.

For Respondent(s)
Upon hearing the counsel the Court made the following order
List the matter on 01.08.2018 at the top of the Board as first item, subject to overnight part-heard matter/s.

This brings us to the biggest question: When will MCC announce NEET 2018 second round result? The answer to that lies in either of the above hearings or the upcoming decisions. From the legal and technical points presented it seems that MCC can go ahead and publish result and the same will be considered subject to final decisions of the court. However it may also be so that result be announced after the August 1 hearing.

On one hand NEET 2019 is inching closer; for the first time the national level medical entrance exam will be held in February and May, twice a year. This has opened up a good option for students who are not getting a seat this time to prepare for the upcoming exam and try their hand in 2019 admissions. However students are waiting to see if they can get a seat or not in NEET 2nd counselling. If not, only then they would start studying for NEET 2019 exam.

Watch out this space for more updates on NEET 2018 counselling.
