The registration for Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM) 2021 ends on June 21. The online application for this examination, conducted by the Office of Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, had started on June 01. Candidates need to ensure that the application form is filled in correctly in order to prevent it from getting rejected.

While filling in the application form, candidates are required to submit their photographs. It has to be in JPEG format. The maximum permitted width is 150 pixels and the maximum height is 200 pixels. The maximum permitted size is between 15 to 100 Kb.

Along with their photo, candidates also need to upload their signature. It has to be in JPEG format as well. Maximum dimension is 150 pixels width and 100 pixels height. Maximum size needs to be in between 10 to 100 Kb. The signature needs to be very clearly visible and it is advisable to put a signature candidates normally use.

Apart from this, candidates also need to provide a proof of nativity along with date of birth. Only PDF format will be accepted. As a testimony to prove nativity (place of birth of the candidate) and date of birth, some of the accepted documents are birth certificate, SSCL Certificate or passport.

If these are not filled correctly, the application form may be rejected. Another situation may arise where the candidate wants to claim for reservation/fee concession. If the candidate wants to claim reservation under SEBC/OEC, a Non Creamy Layer Certificate needs to be obtained from the Village Officer. For candidates falling under SC/ST, a Community Certificate from Tahsildar needs to be obtained as a proof of the claim. For candidates claiming to fall under Economically Weaker Section (EWS), a EWS certificate from the Village Officer needs to be obtained.

Similarly, candidates who wish to be exempt from course fees need to submit relevant documents as well. Candidates whose income is not more than Rs 6 lakh are exempted from course fees. In order to claim such a waiver, Income Proof from the Village Officer needs to be obtained in order to establish the claim under EWS. But the concession will be granted only after the submitted certificate is found valid. For all the aforementioned documents, only PDF format will be supported.

Before the application form is submitted, candidates will also have to pay the application fees. General Category candidates applying for KEAM 2021 for Engineering only/B.Pharm only/both have to pay Rs. 700/- while SC candidates have to pay Rs. 300/-. For Architecture only/Medical & Allied only/both, General candidates have to pay Rs 500/- while SC candidates have to pay Rs 200/-.

General candidates applying for both Engineering/B.Pharm and Architecture/Medical & Allied programs have to pay Rs 900/- while SC candidates have to pay Rs 400/-. It may be noted that all candidates who opt for the Dubai exam centre have to pay an additional fee of Rs 12000/- besides the application fee specified for their category. This includes ST candidates as well although, SC candidates are not required to pay any fee, expect the additional fee (if Dubai centre is chosen).

Once the candidates have filled up the form, examination fees are to be paid through accepted gateways and exactly as per the fee guidelines. The accepted options are either online or e-Challans.

In case the candidate wants to opt for an online channel, options are internet banking, debit cards or credit cards. In case e-Challan option is chosen, candidates will need to take the printout of the challan and they can pay by cash in any Head or Sub Post Offices in Kerala or Lakshadweep.

Candidates need to be careful and put in the application fees as per their claimed status. Otherwise, this may lead to the rejection of the application. In order to avoid such a scenario, KEAM 2021 Prospectus lays out the process for application in detail. It is advisable to download the same and take note of the instructions given before one starts filling up the online form.
