This is to inform all students and other stakeholders of JEE Main 2020, that the official website is now jeemain.nta.nic.in, instead of jeemain.nic.in. The switch has been implemented today, by the National Testing Agency. This does not impact students or their registration process as the transition has been smooth and glitch free. However the new official website may be noted for all purposes of applying for the Joint Entrance Examination, checking status, downloading admit card, checking answer key, and result.
All the JEE Main 2020 information – information bulletin PDF, public notice about new exam pattern, replica of application form, syllabus PDF, link to apply online – are now available at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Students had been typing in jeemain.nic.in in their browsers since morning, in wait of the application form. Whereas application form was released around 10.30 am, half an hour before NTA had said it would (however a day later than initially promised) at jeemain.nic.in, the link to apply has been placed on the new site now.
The online application form of JEE Main 2020 itself is hosted neither at jeemain.nic.in nor jeemain.nta.nic.in; it is working at testservices.nic.in. There, the online application form is working along with forgot password and forgot application number pages.
2020 is the year of changes for JEE Main it seems. The website jeemain.nic.in had been the official website of the exam ever since the JEE Main was introduced from AIEEE. After seven years, the official website has been changed for the Joint Entrance Examination Mains.
Besides the website, exam pattern of JEE Main, its registration fee, have also undergone changes. Numerical value answer type questions have been introduced in the new exam pattern and the overall number of questions have been reduced. In addition, a new paper for B.Planning has been introduced by the National Testing Agency. The registration fee has been hiked by 30% for students in India, and by 50% for students outside India.
The formation of a new agency by the name of NTA was approved by the cabinet in November 2017. After that NTA started by conducting JEE Main, NEET, UGC NET, CMAT, and GPAT. In the same session, it also conducted ICAR’s AIEEA, Delhi University’s DUET, IGNOU’s OPENMAT, and AYUSH exam AIAPGET. For all the papers NTA had started new websites except for JEE Main. Now finally the website of JEE Main has also been changed. Considering that NTA had created new websites for exams, it was anyhow expected that the agency would do so for the national level engineering entrance exam also.
There is, as of now, an automatic redirection from jeemain.nic.in to jeemain.nta.nic.in. A redirect means when a user types in a certain URL websitea.com in their browser to visit a web page A, and the URL automatically changes to websiteb.com and goes to web page B. Thus students will not face any issues right now. However they can bookmark the new website as if they want to return to it every day for the latest news and updates of JEE Main 2020, then they will keep getting redirected that will take up a few more seconds of their time.
